Happy New Year, sheep.
My holidays were pretty good. Santa brought me an iPod, Family Guy DVDs, some new tires, and a couple gift certificates and money. Not too shabby I 'spose. I spent just about all of Christmas day and the day after organizing the iPod, it took around 11 hours but I finally organized all the song, artist, and album names as well as the order in which songs are played in albums. iPod's rock so much, I dunno how I got by without one before.
On the Tuesday after Christmas my family (plus Blake, my sister's boyfriend) and I packed up our stuff and drove to the ATL to stay with my aunt and cousins for a couple days. It's always interesting to go up north and experience what a real winter is. I <3 the warm South Florida weather, but it's nice to actually see your environment change with the seasons, instead of everything looking the same all the time.
My family up there doesn't actually live in Atlanta, they live about an hour away in this town called Jasper. There is pretty much nothing in the town except a couple shops and lots and lots and lots and lots of hills and forest. I decided I was going to get back in to console gaming so I bought Metal Gear Solid 3 and took my PS2 up there 'cause I figured there'd be nothing at all to do the entire time. Luckily for me my PS2 finally decided to take a shit and totally stop working. I guess the laser finally burnt out. I spent the next couple days in front of the TV watching college football bowl games and playing guitar, eeexxxccciiiittttiiiing.
The main reason we went up to Atlanta was to watch The Mighty Florida Gators battle The Fanless Miami Hurricanes in the Chik-Fil-A Peach Bowl, which took place on Friday. We headed over to the Georgia Dome a little early to go to the Fanfest thing they had going. It was pretty fun, they had different events setup such as field goal kicking, catching a punt, throwing a pass, etc. They also had a field setup so you could time how fast you can run the 40. I ran it in 4.6 seconds, which is pretty good because you're considered really fast if you can run it in 4.4. A couple old guys even came up and congratulated me on it, I guess thats how it's going to feel in 5 or 6 years when I'm famous and people are coming up to me all the time wanting autographs. They also had this gladiator thing where you stood on this little platform and tried to push some one off their platform with one of those padded staffs. I took on my sister's boyfriend, but he beat me 3-2.
As for the game, I'm pretty sure the Gator offense and special teams didn't show up for that one. The offensive line didn't stop anything, Leak was running for his life pretty much the entire time. Chad Jackson was running down field and was 8 yards away from a first down, but slid short before he was about to get hit by a defender. Our special teams left wide open lanes for Roscoe Parish to run through, and we were outscored 7-3 when attempting to kick a field goal (Note: you should definitely not be outscored on your own field goal attempts). The defense played lights out, but there's really nothing they could do when the rest of the team played like shit. Luckily we get Urban Meyer as a coach for next season, his teams are always disciplined and he runs one of the most innovative offenses in the country. We should be right there for the SEC and national title next year. I guess they were just waiting around for me to enroll at UF before they finally made a decent run at it.
The game was on New Years Eve, so afterwards we left and tried to get to this peach dropping thing that was going on, but there was so much traffic we didn't get there in time so at midnight I was stuck in traffic. Sweet.
In closing I would like to say that some one should lend me their PS2 for a couple days so I can play MGS3, if not I'm gonna jack yo shit.
