Lightning Round: Weekend-ish Update!

Mar 13, 2006 14:41

One of those busy weekends -- so busy that I won't be able to take care of a journal backlog. Interestingly enough, I will talk about none of those things; so much has come to my attention today that I had to bump it up in the queue over these non-things.

(I was hoping for a happy announcement yesterday, but perhaps it will come tomorrow? Maybe.)

Wrong Drugs?

Did you know that Milosevic died on his way to Moscow over the weekend? Obviously the suicide and murder questions are being raised, but a third theory surmises that he deliberately took the wrong drugs to counteract whatever condition he was going to Moscow to treat, and that decision proved fatal.

But He's Got the Biggest...

I won't say he's grown a pair, because he's been swinging them around for a long time (since the beginning of the current administration at the very least), but he's definitely showing some bravado now: Feingold is suggesting that the Senate censure Bush. It's purely a symbolic gesture, but it could still be an interesting one. What's NOT symbolic are rumblings of impeachment, which is starting to spread its way around the news. The media would NEVER have thought of reporting something like this four years ago...

Open for Business

I picked up the newest Sims 2 expansion over the weekend. This first required that I re-install the game and two existing expansions on my machine on Friday and futz around with my neighborhood and University a bit. I'm not sure how I feel about micromanaging a business just yet, but the side-benefits are pretty well worth the expansion. Er, I hope.

Battlestar New Caprica? (skip this one if you don't want spoilers)

Who saw the Battlestar Galactica season finale? I thought it was great... except that last half hour or so. It felt like so much catch-up, and it was very disorienting. Is it really happening, or is Baltar just imagining it? It seems like it's real.

A better cliffhanger might have been to end it with the nuke going off, and then having us wonder who survived and who didn't, then when the show returns (in OCTOBER! WTF, mate?) have it leap forward a year. You know, since it's going to BE most of a year before we see any more of the show, it might have been a nice parallel. Ugh.

Hang It Up!

As I intimated above, I'm on the verge of a nice Don't Hang Me announcement. At least, I hope it's nice. Stay tuned.

Last Note

Remind me to tell you about work some time. I think I had an epiphany over the weekend.
