I decided today that I'm not going to let some Pilgrims tell me what to eat for dinner, so I didn't have Turkey, but had lasagna instead. Oh the joys of going out to fancy restaurants rather than sitting at home watching the family fuss over a dead bird. However, this isn't the first year I've been defiant. Here's a history of me telling tradition to go to hell:
8 years old: I was in Maui at the time and we went to a Luau and of course they had turkey, but I wanted the chicken, so I was the only one in the family without turkey.
10 years old: I was in Vancouver, Canada and since the wonderful Canadians celebrate their Thanksgiving in October, there's no reason for them to even have turkey on the menu, so that's where I was introduced to Salmon.
11 years old: Went up to Flagstaff and went a very fancy place that I can't remember the name and had Hallibut
12 years old: Went down to Bisbee (however, I insisted that we drive down to Mexico just to be different and leave the country on Thanksgiving, so we did and fucked around for a while) and had steak
13 and 14 years old: damn family was in town from out of state, so I had no choice but to have Turkey
15 years old: Went to Sacramento and the damn family made me eat turkey
16 years old: Went to San Diego and a very nice restaurant on top of a tall building downtown overlooking the beach. I had two different types of salmon and it was wonderful
and like I said earlier, this year I had lasagna. It's so much fun saying screw you to tradition. Hope you had a good day.
