For my wedding dress (no pics yet...soon perhaps)
So... Now that I have my corset from
www.fittingroomcorsets.com I have been able to check out what it looks like with other fabric for making my dress. Initially, I was heading for a fine cotton, or a high thread count cotton sateen to breathe nicely at my July wedding. Not finding much of this that I liked, started looking for eyelet.
Now, pale eyelet with the black corset.... however pretty.... really did take the wedding dress from "Fancy gown with corset top; appropriate for many occasions" to "Victorian Underwear"
Which is exactly what it IS... admittedly..... but this was almost explicit. It was like I had stepped off the set of Oklahoma in the scene where the girls are in corsets and slips getting ready for the big dance.
So, as I was wondering how okay I was with this (truth be told: still pretty okay) I step over to silk shantung. Now, initially, I wasn't going to make my wedding dress from silk because it is
*warmer
*harder to clean
*more expensive and
*generally gives off a creamy glow that I normally LOVE but thought might clash a little wirth my polyester satin brocade corset.
However, I fell in love with a shantung that is this hard-to-describe icy yellow with a green shadow. It's a better spring color than summer, but fuckit. What was really weird was that it was the exact shade that I was wearing when I found it. As for what it does to my complexion...it's makes me appear a little pink.... but not the death-pallor yellow or sickly green that many yellows do.... It's a very cool yellow. And I'll be pink *anyway* in July so whatever. It looks great with the corset and Fabric Depot had 25% off everything today.
so... yay!
