I was in the market today and happened to see what can only be described as a lump of tree passing as a vegetable.  It skin has a bark like appearance and in the inside is white and hard, but looks soft and spongy.  Does anyone know that this vegetable is as I want to know but haven't a clue where to start if I were to google it.
