Pretty!

I've been wondering if some scenery upgrades were worth the effort of downloading for my flight simulator. I've already modified overall terrain (Canada, USA, And Europe, along with chunks of Australia) to be more photorealistic, but do I want to bother getting more granular, downloading specific regions of the planet? Really, how much better could this make the flightsim experience?

This is Venice using the scenery that comes with the program.

This is the exact same location (identical GPS longitude and latitude) after downloading and installing a scenery patch:

While the locations are identical, I didn't get the camera angle quite lined up both times. Still, you can the domed buildings in the first picture to the left of the tower in the second, and the island is evident in both. Even the water looks better.

After the upgrade, I spent about half an hour "touring" Venice.

Okay, so I would call that a rather unqualified "YES" to scenery upgrades.
