I am not arguing yet, I am just curious, but what makes him so gay? I am sure you have a reason but it seems I missed the memo.

-he's overrated (see: tonight's game)
-espn calls him the best player in america
-dick vitale just LOVES him
-he sucks in the clutch but the media pegs him as the best clutch player
-people said he's the best shooter in the country last year (stoudamire was far better)
-he picks his nose
-he writes poetry (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/basketball/ncaa/02/16/redick.poems/index.html)
-he's cocky
-has the refs in his pocket
-plays for duke
-isn't going to be a good pro
-annoys the hell out of everyone
-sucks
-is ugly
-represents all that is wrong with the world
-is "player of the year" even though he sucks
-is a loser

I didn't care for any of your reasons except, dick vitale loves him, and that he writes poetry. But then I got to thinking that as bad as the poetry is, it would pass in English 2 H and I could possibly put it to good use. So that really only leaves the fact that dick vitale loves him; anyways, none of the things on your list r his fault, except that he plays for Duke and is cocky.

You have no idea if he's going to be a good pro or not. No one has any idea. If he gets on the right team, a team where he doesn't have to be the superstar like he had to for Duke, he could be a very valuable player. Is he the next MJ? No way. He's not even the next Reggie Miller, but that doesn't mean he can't have a successful NBA career. Probably the next Jeff Hornacek, and he was a great player. Part of an ESPN article ( ... )

the fact that you mention redick in the same paragraph as MJ or miller is simply appaling. Redick's only role in the NBA will be the ass-hat white guy who comes in in the last 30 seconds of a game to rub off a double screen to try and nail a three. we've all seen how clutch his shooting in the final minutes of a game is, and how he has the poise night in and night out to carry the ol' blue devils in huge games. he'll be playing in europe by 07. To claim that he could assist either miami or cleveland to elevate to the most incredible starting 5 in some time is recoculous. his college career was average at best. hes the next jason white of college sports. besides, he holds his hand up when he shoots like he's gay or something, that shit won't fly after the first time kobe bryant rejects the basketball 5 rows up. my money is all on a bust. the fact that there is even discussion of what could be seals it. you didnt hear people saying, 'well, jordan might bring something to the pro game' or, 'you know what, shaq might not have ( ... )

Okay, if you could actually read what I wrote, I would be much more inclined to take you seriously. Did I say he would be as good as MJ or Reggie Miller? No. In fact (again, being able to read would help) I said the exact opposite. He WON'T be the next MJ or Reggie...probably not even close. But let's face it, there aren't very many players now or ever who have been as good as those guys, but that doesn't mean those players don't make significant NBA contributions. And I wasn't claiming that he would make Cleveland or Miami that much better now, that was ESPN. You know, the guys whose job it is to sit around and analyze sports. I'm pretty sure they know more than you do. Here's something else for you...if you've ever actually played basketball and learned the fundamentals, they teach you to shoot exactly like J.J. Redick does. He has textbook form, and part being a great shooter is FOLLOWING THROUGH. That's why he holds his hand up, not because he's "gay". I'll be the first to admit that he most likely won't be a superstar ( ... )
