3 Hutchinson has recently released a new and interesting product. Called
EyeCam it's basically a little video camera that connects to 3's mobile phone network. To use it you simply make a video call to it from your 3G capable mobile connected to either 3,
Telstra or
Vodafone. You don't have to keep paying to keep the camera connected to 3's network, you just buy the camera for $249 and off you go. I'm not sure if it's battery powered or needs to be connected to the mains. Like webcams, there are some
privacy concerns about the product, mostly because it's very cheap and easy to setup some kind of sneaky surveillance with it, though 3 says it beeps and flashes while it's being used.
It seems to me to be more of a gadget than anything actually useful, but it certainly is a very cool little gadget.
