[RP log] Hervey + Lucas: where Lucas feels worthless

Oct 13, 2005 05:27

Because... Hervey had no reason to stay behind at Budehuc while Kika and Siggy were gone on that expedition.

Semeus Lucc: so
Semeus Lucc: how's Hervey? :O
Lufia Luf: ... He's... Umm... Emo. XD
Semeus Lucc: ............oh gods

Lucas: .... ?

Hervey: *anxious look*

Lucas: ... *doesn't... exactly feel like Hervey would be appreciative of the gesture, but he still walks forth and starts to hug the pirate* Something wrong?

Hervey: *awkwardly stands there* Just... nothing... I guess.

Lucas: .......Kika having gone to the expedition without you? *venturing a guess*

Hervey: ... Yeaaaaaah. *deflated look*

Lucas: ...*lowers his gaze* I'm sorry... Since I appear to be the reason she didn't grab you along.

Hervey: *shrugs, and mumbles a little* It's not your fault... Think I woulda' got in the way, injured and all... 'n stuff.

Lucas: .....s'a bit my fault you got hurt though.

Hervey: ... Meh. *forces a smile* Crap happens, y'know.

Lucas: *looks up at Hervey again, briefly silent before he moves a hand up to the other's mouth and uses a finger to gently press the corner of Hervey's lips* If you're sad, you shouldn't force asmile.

Hervey: I... Eh? *he frowns a little, trying to look mock pouty.. but only looking tired* Tch, I'm not sad at all...

Lucas: Disappointed then. *takes to poking Hervey's cheek like how Hervey does so to him when he's under the weather* You don't have to hide it. It's not as if I'd mock you.

Hervey: *he gently takes Lucas' poking hand, sighing* There's nothing to hide, really...

Lucas: ... *contemplating* Still you wish you'd gone with Kika instead of having stayed at the castle. *with him*

Hervey: Of course I wish that. *glances at Lucas' eyes momentarily before looking back at the sky* She's my Captain. It's my duty to follow her, and... and I have nothing to do here, anyway.

Lucas: ... *at first, he isn't saying a thing...because whatever he says, Hervey'll deny it or avoid entirely. It takes him a moment, but he eventually looks at Hervey with a brow raised and a bit of a sulk* So I'm that boring?

Hervey: *looks startled by that response, and quickly rewords his thoughts* No, you know I don't mean that!

Lucas: Oh? *blinks a bit guilelessly, faking incomprehension* Then what did you mean? Since I fail at being a psychic and reading your thoughts.

Hervey: *opens his mouth to speak, but closes, and repeats the process again whilst trying to find the correct words* I... I mean, a duty. Social-wise, there's a lot to do here.. but no real duty for me.

Lucas: *thinks briefly on that and.... nods in reluctant agreement* There is that. *he supposes*

Hervey: *he glances at the ground, looking a little vulnerable, but otherwise remaining silent, unsure what to say*

Lucas: ....Any love letters from Luca?

Hervey: Wh -- No!

Lucas: *shrugs, disheartened by the previous conversation* Just thought maybe he was hiding low and had decided to go for a regular courtship.

Hervey: I don't think he'd do that.. ever. *he shrugs also, rather listlessly* Maybe he's given up.

Lucas: *if he did... would it mean the youth's time with Hervey would come to an end too?* .....maybe.

Hervey: *he doesn't know* .... It'd be good if he has, huh? Everything would be back to normal.

Lucas: *normal... normal means... being buddies with Hervey, doesn't it? He forces a tiny smile* Normal..... what counts as 'normal' to you?

Hervey: ... Normal? Ah, that's kind of hard to define, isn't it? *he looks neutral*

Lucas: *doesn't want normal life to come if...* It's what you would see yourself do everyday. What would you do if you weren't walking around with a death sentence over your head?

Hervey: *pretends to look thoughtful, although he already knows what he wants to say* Huuh. I see myself pillaging and killing everyday, if that counts? *he forces a laugh, knowing that didn't answer the question at all*

Lucas: *raises a brow* Not around here it doesn't. That's what you'd do if you were on the high sea again.

Hervey: It's what I'd like to do now. *he frowns a little, feeling horribly nostalgic all of a sudden - his thoughts are still lingering on Lady Kika*

Lucas: ........... *pulls away in what he hopes is a natural manner, covering his torment behind a wry look* Well, you could always start pillaging the castle if you wanted. And you could always try to kill Yuber or Luca if you ever do feel murderous.

Hervey: I don't think that'd be taken too well with Thomas. *lets Lucas go, shrugging a little* Or the rest of the castle residents.

Lucas: Maybe... *'idly' clasps his hands behind his back, tilting his head to the side when he really just wants to look away* But you can always knock Luca over the head if he tries anything funny again.

Hervey: *he smiles a little at the suggestion* I'll knock him over the head regardless of what he does.

Lucas: There you go. *nods approvingly* A perfectly good way to get back at him for all the stress he caused you.

Hervey: Yeah. It's the least I can do to repay him, I guess.

Lucas: *smiles innocently at that*

Hervey: *he shrugs again, turning away to find something to look at and pay attention to, ultimately failing*

Lucas: *isn't going to engage anything since... it's not his presence Hervey desires*

Hervey: *finds the silence a little awkward, but doesn't know what to say. He isn't sure if the other is upset at before, so he just sighs* Well...

Lucas: How is Little Hervey? You always end up seeing Adonis at least every few days, but what of your puppy?
Lucas: *isn't avoiding anything*

Hervey: Hmm, Little Hervey's doing alright. He trains with Juan a lot, and I fit in time to play with him in the mornings.

Lucas: And how is his training going? Is he making progress? *has next to no interests in dogs actually and is awfully awkward around them*

Hervey: Last I heard from Juan, he's doing great. *unaware of that*

Lucas: What is he getting trained for anyway? I never quite knew what. *won't volunteer that information*

Hervey: Just, combat. Juan suggested it I think, I can't really remember. *he shrugs*

Lucas: Oh. *tilts his head briefly, thinking about that before focusing deceptively clear seagreen orbs upon Hervey again* What would he need the combat training for?

Hervey: Well... Actually, it was something to do with Yuber being like a cat, and I figured I'd let a dog loose on him. And I'd torment Reinbach and Milich with a dog, too.

Lucas: *blinks* Just for tormenting people...?

Hervey: Guess so. And for self-defense, yeah..

Lucas: Oh... ........aren't you worried he'll get hurt someday?

Hervey: *finally turns and glances at Lucas* Everyone gets hurt. It's inevitable, and it's no use having me worry about it, don'tcha think?

Lucas: ......I guess. *neutrally*

Hervey: *he seems a little discontent with the situation and turns away again, crossing his arms* Yeah...

Lucas: *grows quiet, again not knowing what they could speak of*
Lucas: *at least...nothing that he wants to speak of and knows Hervey would stay and listen to*

Hervey: *finally, impatiently, he can't stand the awkwardness any longer* Lucas, what's wrong?

Lucas: *carefully looks up, eyes void of any of his thoughts* Nothing that you care about.

Hervey: You can't be so sure of that. *frowns, looking at Lucas worriedly*

Lucas: *still carefully void* Honestly, each time we get close to the subject, you become evasive.

Hervey: ... *goes silent again, having figured out what Lucas might be getting at now...*

Lucas: ....... *looks away*

Hervey: ..... *mumbles* I'm sorry.

Lucas: *shrugs almost dismissingly, breathing calmly* I'm the one who won't go away when you're obviously after someone else.

Hervey: That's not the point.. *isn't actually sure what the point is and goes silent again, agitated*

Lucas: What is the point then? *keeping his eyes to the side lest his distress starts showing*

Hervey: I... don't know.

Lucas: I see. *silent as he thinks on that, trying to find a good way to explain things from his view* .......I think the point is that you care more than you dare admit to yourself.

Hervey: *he bites back a snarl, settling for glaring at Lucas* Tch. *is trying to not say something that'll come out harsh, but has a hard time* I don't care more than I dare to admit.

Lucas: .........................Right. *tiny sardonic curl of the lip* I'm the one reading too much in your actions then.

Hervey: Maybe you are. *shifts his glare to the floor*

Lucas: *nods curtly, swallowing with difficulty* I'm a romantist... of course I'd read more than there actually is in the actions of someone I care about.

Hervey: Don't say that. Don't say you care. *clenches his fists, trying to keep himself calm*

Lucas: ........my bad.

Hervey: .. That's right.

Lucas: *blinks once, locking away his thoughts once more, mask back in place* I'll go reflect upon my conduct then. Since there's obviously something wrong with me.

Hervey: Do what you want... *determinedly stays stubborn on the matter*

Lucas: *softly* ...Yes sir. I'm sorry to have troubled you, sir. *starts leaving since, after all, he's the one at fault*

Hervey: *he doesn't make a move or gesture that would stop Lucas, opting to stand there, fists clenched tight and kicking the wall*

Lucas: *walks away at a regulated pace, not hurrying nor slowing down. Because, if he did anything else, he'd lose the hold he barely has on his bottled up emotions*

Hervey: *he glowers and stays there a little longer, for now settling his thoughts on alcohol instead of what just happened*
