HI. I don't have much to say but I actual read through my flist for the first time in awhile today so I wanted to post. A few things:
1. I'm name-squatting on Imzy as (surprise!) sdwolfpup. I don't get Imzy pretty much at all, and lord knows I don't need ANOTHER social media platform to try and keep up with but I'm there. I also have a ton of invites if that's still a thing people need, so let me know.
2. I finally watched The Music Man (having only listened to it) and 1776 in the last few weeks and now I'm madly in love with both of them. 1776 was much better than I thought it was going to be, and hit some really intense topics.
3. My children turned 7 and 3, which seems IMPOSSIBLE, but here we are. I should post a few pictures of them in a locked post. I will put that on my To Do list.
4. I've been listening to mostly Mumford & Sons lately (as you know if you follow me on Twitter) but I have been bopping around other music, too, and so on Twitter I've started doing a #TuesdayTunes thing. My first rec was for Eisley and today's was Beta Radio, which is a gorgeous, moody folk group (you can stream their 2014 album on Spotify here:
https://play.spotify.com/album/22ydepp9MkmGOVOG89v9DU).
5. One song on my 'Current Obsessions' playlist was "Northwest Passage," and as I was listening to it a week or so ago I realized that so many of the names in due South come from actual Canadian people and places that it somehow makes due South feel like even more of a fairy tale than it is. IDK how to describe it; I've always loved the show's magical realism, but this hit me like...like the show could JUST be a fairy tale, that they're all just these metaphorical representations of Canada (and the US, for the Rays). It was a Deep Thought at the time, but I'm struggling to explain it now.
6. Yesterday was National Video Games day and I went on a long thread on twitter about my favorite games (starting with my Vic20 cartridge system as a child up to our PS4 today) and only Isagel would talk video games with me (<3333) but I still want to talk about them! So here's a link to the long-ass list I posted on Twitter:
https://twitter.com/sdwolfpup/status/775438551177580544 Does anybody else remember any of these?
7. I discovered Loom is on Steam so I ended up buying that and then played the ENTIRE THING last night which means I am exhausted but happy today. Ah, the gaming life. (Also the amount that game and Journey are alike made the proverbial light-bulb go off in my head.)
8. It's beautiful in the PACNW today! Why did summer come so late?
9. I still super love baseball. Super duper. I discovered the joy of being in The Pen at my last game and now all I want is to spend sunny summer days watching Tom Wilhelmson and Edwin Diaz throw sunflower seeds at each other while a game plays in the background.
10. I'm nearly 20,000 words into my Dragon Age Inquisition Inquisitor Adaar/Blackwall post-Trespasser fic and have at least 10k more words to go. I'm enjoying the hell out of writing it but, dang, self. Dang. Next task is going to be to find a beta. Heh.
I really enjoyed reading all of your posts. I'm sorry I'm so terrible at blogging.
