Today is Festivids reveal day! Already! After all that waiting, I was really not prepared for this! Heh.
I made:
We Are Having A Hootenanny, a Brooklyn Nine-Nine vid for Zhailei.
The source was trickier to work with than I thought - as hilarious as their faces are, a lot of the humor comes from what they're saying, but thankfully there's some excellent physical comedy as well. Honestly as the weeks kept progressing after the vid was posted I kept finding perfect scenes for the vid. I could re-make the whole thing just with the last four weeks alone it feels like!
I SO DESPERATELY wanted to add a shot of Holt carrying the puppies, but that episode aired the week the vids were due and I couldn't fit it into the vid thematically (although I feel like cute puppies are ALWAYS appropriate thematically) or even just in terms of finding place for it in the timeline without having to re-arrange a bunch of stuff and I had no time for that. Then I totally wanted to do basically an all-puppies version of the vid but that has not come to pass either. SOMEDAY.
I am just so deeply enjoying this show that I gave up trying to not talk about it and talked about it so much that I was hoping people would think no one would talk that much about a source they actually vidded. REVERSE PSYCHOLOGY DEPLOYED. I'm pretty sure no one guessed me for anything, though, which is normal for Festivids and me. (Also interesting - I don't really have a style? Or I guess it's just kind of generic? IDK!) Anyhoo: my first vid I've made in a year. A YEAR. Frankly I'm just amazed I got it done. It was really fun to make and although I didn't actually realize that B99 would be a safety source I could be matched on, I'm super glad it's what I was matched on. Festivids always gives me something I didn't know I wanted. :)
I am still MASSIVELY behind on watching Festivids (I haven't seen ANY of the SH ones yet, for instance!), so that will take me another year to do. Especially since I've started ripping for an epic John Crichton vid. Hahahahhah ahahaha haha hah. What am I thinking?!
