KITTIES

Ok well they're not technically "kittens," really, they're a few months over a year old now, but: KITTIES.

I feel like this image tells you everything you need to know about them.

Introducing JM Tavaris

And Horatio McFadden

They came to us as just Tavaris and McFadden, but we felt like they needed a little more oomph. :) (The JM stands for either John Michael or Justinius Maximus, depending on our mood.) They're both really soft and very friendly. Tavaris is more playful and fond of head bumps; McFadden is 14 lbs (!) and loves having his belly rubbed. And they adore each other.

They are settling in exceptionally well. Sebastian has been in to greet them with no rancor on anyone's part. Cairo hissed a bit at the door yesterday, but has otherwise been normal (and avoiding that room) the rest of the time, which is how I expect their lives together to go. He just wants to be left alone, and at least the brothers have each other and Sebastian to play and cuddle with. We have not introduced the dogs yet, but I suspect it will be a non-issue, as they were good even when we first showed them the much-tinier Oliver (aw, Oliver), so two big, mellow cats are not going to stir any weird aggressive feelings.

They've been amazing with Puplet, too, who feels compelled to say, "awww they're so CUTE" every single time he sees them. Then he has to give them hugs (he does ask first, which I appreciate) and pet them, and they not only put up with it, but come back for more.

I forgot how obnoxious kittens can be, because Tavaris especially still has some of that kitten energy/curiosity and I have spent much of today saying, "Tavaris, no! Leave that alone, Tavaris! What are you doing?!" <3
