I went to Pacificon and all I got was a new fandom!
Okay totally not true! I also got: ALMOST enough hugs from certain people to make up for not having seen them for two years; delicious Thai food; to attend an awesome dance party; the chance to put googly eyes on Angel; giddy-making feedback on the vidshow I was really nervous about; much-needed fannish reconnection time that reminded me why I miss having fannish time; a lot of FEELINGS about Parks and Rec; the opportunity to blather on endlessly (again! some more!) about Prison Break and Michael/Mahone to (mostly) willing listeners; a bitchin' shot glass; a "kind of rock" temporary tattoo (which Puplet keeps pointing out and calling my "owie"); the chance to hang out in the hot ladies' room; to touch a certain someone's boning; to draw a BDSM club owned by Ryan, Esposito, Huey, Dewey, and Gardino; the opportunity to watch MCR's Reading set with a room full of fangirls; a new person to play Draw Something with; AND a new fandom!
Bitchin Party 2012 = TOTAL SUCCESS. \o/
Re: the vidshow, you can get the playlist with links to all the vids here at the comm LJ. I actually have a surprisingly large amount of thoughts on constructing this vidshow and how it actually became it's own kind of art form so much that I was legitimately really nervous before it started that people would be bored/hate it/confused/all of the above. But that is going to be a longer post so I'll tuck that away for later. What I DO want to say is: vidders, the vidshow went over like GANGBUSTERS and your vids are the reason why, so thank you for making such awesome stuff. ♥
The new fandom, BTW, is The Persuaders and you can lay the fault ENTIRELY at the feet of Belmanoir & Mrs-Laugh-Track, so when you start getting sick of seeing me talk about Danny and Brett, BLAME THEM. (But OMG you guys, Brett is so "I am the essence of ironic detachment, but DON'T YOU TOUCH MY DANNY YOU BASTARD" and Danny is all "I love life and am a jokester but GOD HELP YOU IF YOU THREATEN BRETT" and also BRETT WHISTLED "DANNY BOY" TO LET DANNY KNOW HE WAS THERE AND I'M PRETTY SURE I WILL NEVER RECOVER FROM THAT MOMENT.)

In currently airing fandom news, I have to say something about last week's Castle and that is, while I appreciate them moving Castle and Beckett's relationship forward, they did so in such a way that when Castle made his "watch me" retort to his mom about being able to turn off the love, that I actually IMMEDIATELY CEASED SHIPPING THEM. Like, I could feel the switch flip off in my mind and now I actively DO NOT WANT THEM TOGETHER. It is weird and dismaying and if something doesn't change by the end of the season, I think I am done with the show. WHICH PAINS ME. Because y'all know how much I want to support Nathan Fillion, but I'm done having my emotions toyed with, and the show is not fresh enough anymore to support a return to Castle and Beckett being friends who are sort of interested in each other and, most importantly, I don't want to watch a show where Castle is pining for Beckett but treating her badly because HE WON'T JUST FUCKING TALK TO HER I HATE THAT SHIT, YOU GUYS. So we'll see where THAT goes.
Also I have finally been firmly ensnared in Once Upon A Time's grasp after Rumpelstiltskin finally admitted to Regina that he remembers storybook land, as well as this whole Mary Margaret in jail thing because they're both really interesting storytelling devices. Emma has won my heart over 100% and I will defend her TO THE DEATH at this point. Charming redeemed himself in last night's episode, which I'm glad because I am HARDCORE INVESTED in Snow/Charming and would be sad if he continued to be a dick in Storybrooke. I actually find the writer guy at least somewhat interesting (as opposed to 99% of fandom I've encountered who find him a total block of wood) although I don't trust him. I basically don't trust anyone but Emma and Mary Margaret and I LOVE THEIR FRIENDSHIP SO MUCH. The female friendship on this show is making me super happy. Hell, the SHEER AMOUNT of women DOING STUFF on this show is making me super happy and I'm glad I stuck out my weird disinterest to actually get attached to the show. Even with its sometimes clunky plots. I know some spoilers about the finale that are making me excited to see where they're going/what they've got planned, but I'm trying to remain unspoiled for anything new at this point. My biggest complaint with the show at this moment is that I very much hope last night's episode is not the only reason that Regina wants such horrible revenge on Snow, because Snow was TEN YEAR'S OLD and also? Snow's not the one who killed him, it was YOUR MOTHER, REGINA, so I really hope a)she takes out revenge on her mother FIRST, at least; and b)that there is something more to the animosity. OTOH, if this IS it, maybe it will make it easier for them to all band together at some point against a different enemy? IDK. But the show has finally convinced me to give it my trust and see where it's going.
As you can see, Bitchin Party did a number on my fannishness. Hopefully there's enough people still around on LJ that it won't be too late for me! Heh.
