In the
help-japan auction, I won the artistic services of
shiftly, and after much hemming and hawing on my part to decide what I wanted, I asked for a Babs/Dick drawing. She sent me some sketches (which were frankly ALL amazing) and I picked one for her to make into the art. Well she finished it and sent it to me the other day and now I am here to share it with you because it is FREAKING GORGEOUS and makes my heart both SWELL and SWOON.
*contented sigh*

Receipt of that art piece came at a good time as Things Happened on Game of Thrones last night that I was not mentally prepared to deal with at the time.
I of course knew what was going to happen to Ned, but I thought they were going to do it in the finale, so when they went to Arya catching pigeons my heart jumped in sudden terror that they were doing it then. That scene where Ned confesses and then Joffrey has him killed anyway is one of the most aggravating scenes in any media and has stayed with me since I read the book some 15 years ago. It links back to what I was saying a couple of weeks ago about Ned and his honor (and what the show so conveniently confirmed again last night!), and how ultimately he gives up the thing that is almost the most precious to him in order to protect his daughter. And then it gets THROWN IN HIS FACE and it is HORRIBLE and I want to DO BAD THINGS to Joffrey.
So, yes. That happened. I really was impressed with how they filmed it, though. And I've enjoyed watching people's unspoiled reactions, because man HAVE I EVER BEEN THERE. (I did see someone snarking about how it was ~more dramatic~ on the show and how it wouldn't have had as much affect as in the books, and that may be true for them, but let me tell you, IT AFFECTED ME DEEPLY while reading it. I have a lot of FEELINGS about that scene. Most of them along the lines of: @(*#&$(@*#&$(@*#&$(*@&. )
On a happier note, Tyrion/Bronn/Shae = BEST SLUMBER PARTY EVER. Heeee. It was interesting to see Shae; weirdly I never had a mental picture for her, so I couldn't be "disappointed," but even still she seems perfect. And, man, I am LOVING Bronn in the TV show in a way I never fully did in the books. I mean I liked Bronn a lot in the books, but this actor is just KILLING it. I've also been unexpectedly impressed with Varys' actor, and Emilia Clarke is really doing a great job with Dany. I'm also totally onboard the Nikolaj C-W lovetrain. Dude's hot as hell, NGL.
I have a lot of LJ posts I compose in my head and yet so few ever make it to the screen. But one of these days I want to talk about photography and the things about myself that it's making me really take a look at. I also kind of want to talk about the book, Room, which I finished recently, but I'm not sure what to say. I have EMOTIONS about it but don't know how to articulate them, even for myself, I think. It was a great book, but I don't know if I would actually recommend it to people unless I knew them very well. IDK. Have any of you read it?
