I have finished Mockingjay! (My reading petered out a bit due to sudden lack of time, but I just used up most of my lunch hour to get it done.)
ZOMG.
That was WAY more depressing than I thought it was going to be! I was holding it together through the books as people were tortured and/or killed right and left (District 12! Finnick! Boggs! CINNA NOOOOOES I LOVED CINNA - would have liked a lot more about him, honestly) until Prim died and then I was all O.O and teary and then Buttercup made me CRY.
I really hated Plutarch by the end, I have to say; I wish he'd been given more of a narrative smackdown. I do agree with a few things I've seen that some of the depressed-in-the-hospital stuff in the first third of the book went on a little too long for me (it was like all the frigging camping in the Harry Potter book), but I actually disagree that Katniss didn't choose Peeta, that she just "ended up" with him. I think she had chosen him a long time ago, and everyone but her knew it. No matter what Gale said, I think he knew it, too.
I wish she'd been able to actively kill Snow herself, though.
Man, that thing with the kids being killed...that was offsides, Collins. OFFSIDES.
Katniss Everdeen - I am SO CONFLICTED about you, girl! I adore her but, man, sometimes she could be VERY FRUSTRATING. Which, you know, not like that ever happens in real life. Hee.
ANYWAY. I ENJOYED THEM and would like to talk more about them! I haven't been that invested in a series in a long time.
Please link me to your thoughts? Unless you utterly hated it. Heh.
