Deck the halls with mistletoe / and all your heavy burdens go / up the chimney with the smoke

I have returned from the wilds of San Diego. We jaunted down south for a quick trip and are now home and about thirty degrees colder. Heh. I'm several days behind on email and comments, have at least 25+ tabs open in Firefox, and have Christmas decorating to do this weekend, not to mention finishing up DSSS, so I'll respond to things as soon as I can. Just wanted to drop off a couple of time-sensitive links and some thoughts on The Magnificent Seven while they were fresh in my mind.

Via meret, a warning to Australian pet owners.

Torsopants is closing December 23rd. I only point this out because A)I love their t-shirts and B)there are a few that I think would be perfect for several people on my flist and if you want them, now's your chance. (For example, this one makes me think of belmanoir and this one makes me think of mrs-laugh-track. And this one just makes me laugh. Heh.)

Signs my Ezra-fixation is in full swing: I saw a half-second clip of Anthony Starke during a Burn Notice commercial on the plane (woooo JetBlue! I watched Bring It On while flying home!) and recognized him instantly. Also, I've been watching clips from other things he's done over on YouTube. So far it's been more satisfying catching up on William Fichtner's career, I must say. No offense, Anthony!

Speaking of the ever-so-awesome Mr. Fichtner, out-there has done us fangirls a great service by capping some of his scenes from The Healer. Such a noble sacrifice on Ms There's part. *g*

And back to Mr. Starke, we finished season 1 of The Magnificent Seven. I really wanted "Manhunt" to sell me on Vin, but it still hasn't worked. He seems like a nice enough fellow, and the tracking skills are something, but for whatever reason he's just not clicking for me. I'll keep working on it; it feels weird liking everybody else so much. Ok, JD and I are still on tentative ground, but his ridiculous joke during "Inmate 78" did a lot to win me over; especially important after I actually found him extra-annoying in "Manhunt." JD is also the only one I prefer sans hat.

My favorite part of "Manhunt" was actually Josiah's storyline, his anger at himself and finding his balance by the end. Given the way the final showdown went with the father and the brother, and the way Josiah talked the brother down, I actually believe that Josiah killed his own father, and by stopping Ray (Ray?) from killing his father, that's what helped Josiah heal himself. I also adored Nathan & his CSI tricks. I really want Nathan to get a personal storyline, though. You'd think they'd have a wealth of stuff to do for him, having been in the war and all. I was shocked that the woman died; so was AHH. But not shocked when it turned out to be the father.

You know what's wrong with this picture? NOT A DAMN THING. Seriously, I have never seen anyone who enjoys leaning and stretching out quite so much. It's awesome. And can we take a moment to laugh at the phallic hilarity of this picture? Ok I'm done. I find it interesting the Ezra seems to always be the voice of the bigotry of the times, though he always comes around in the end. Possibly because he can be charming while doing it? I do not understand why I adore this character so much, y'all. But I constantly find myself happier when he pops up.

"Inmate 78" - They called them "Larabee's Gang" - d'awwwwww! I adore Chris, too. It's cliche, yes, but his behavior in the prison is along the lines of all my favorite character types. I thought the bit at the end with the Lawson brothers (or whatever their last names were) was really well-done, Chris admitting he was wrong, everyone a little older and wiser. I'd hoped for a bigger reunion between Chris and the guys, honestly, but I'm sure there's fic for that somewhere. *makes big doe eyes at you*

Buck continues to be just...I mean he's BUCK. BUUUUUUCK. I have nothing but hearts for him, and the way he laughs and how his eyes go all smile-y and when he freaks out because Chris is gone. BUCK.

It's sad this show is so short. I love watching the characters do pretty much anything at all.

In case you were unaware, the LJ permanent account sale is going on and they've upped the number of total userpics by 50 for perm. users, which makes for 195 total. It's $175 for the account. Which is less than a dollar a userpic! Sale ends on the 10th, so if you're gonna go for it, better do it soon! Several people on my flist have mentioned the extra number of icon spaces, so I'm assuming y'all have permanent accounts. Do you feel it was worth it? I am waffling like a breakfast pastry. I firmed. I hope I don't regret this. Heh.

I need to Christmafy my icons. *adds to To Do list*
