Apparently I'm selling my wedding set.

I heard a radio advertisement the other day talking about the price of gold and the light bulb went off! I couldn't believe it never occurred to me to sell my old gold and diamond jewelry, being that now is when we desperately need all the funds we can we can get our paws on. Put your foot down, Sarah. If you feel like you want to hold on to it, then do it. Your reasons aren't one bit silly. Just because he doesn't feel sentimental doesn't mean you have to give up those feelings. Perhaps, in time, your sentimentality will make him feel like he needs to hold on to the past as well. Besides, your wedding rings are the past, present and your future with Joe.

One day, when things aren't so bad, maybe Joe will be able to obtain a mate to go with your ring, and by then, perhaps he will attach a little more value to it than just it's market value.

I know what you mean. But the ring itself isn't really that important because he wasn't even going to get me one to begin with; his parents made him get one [and paid for it + $400 of my own savings].

The more I think about it, the more I feel like a retard for accepting it in the first place. I kept it for what it represented, but it obviously represents nothing.

He said the idea of wedding rings is too traditional for him. I don't foresee him ever wearing one.

I appreciate your words though, it made me feel a little better. ^__^
