To being possible victims of a pondscum, sewer sucking worthless company who can't change their polices.

We do work for lenders all over the country. Well they go though these 'AVMs' which are a sort of middle-men for appraisers. So if BankAmerica has a job in a county in Kentucky, they give it to an AVM that handles Kentucky, and they assign it to the appraiser who handles said county. (Say Boone county, KY)

Well 99% of AVMs are ok, to outstanding. 99% want to work with their employees.

1% however...

Without saying WHO it was, one very nearly sucked us in.

I was 1 click away from putting our company on a 'screw the appraiser, if we get sued' list.

When I saw that link to 'terms and conditions' something popped in my head, screaming READ IT!!

Sure enough, I did, I alerted my supervisor, and we did some serious digging. All over google, there was red-alerts about this AVM. I think in fact, I heard about this from one of our watchdogs in the Kentucky appraiser commission who spreads the word about bad AVMs and other assholes who try to make our lives more miserable. Working us to death is one thing. Making us be the scapegoat for their bad practices? Nope...ain't gonna bend over and take it.

Basically it said, (in my own words) We get sued for an appraisal you did. Tough shit; YOU pay all our court costs, all fines, etc, etc, etc.) In other words it's your ass, not ours and you can't do a thing against us! The government can sue you into economic bondage. Sue this ass company? Good luck; that's another 'we'll bury you' moment.

Sure we lost $300 for this appraisal. Better than being put into economic bondage for the rest of your life, hm?

Don't click on anything unless you read it, folks! Corporations are the true government anymore.
