Well, it seems that the year long hiatus on art paid off.
So MANY times I'd have this flash of brilliance, of skill. It was like a Krispy Kreme donuts just danging out of reach, and sometimes I could just make that extra inch of stretch and grab it.
LIke this picture. Done in 2009, that was the last great piece I ever did. But if I tried to duplicate such skill I get something I wouldn't even wipe my tail with!
However, Judging by how
good this picture came out, I thought I may have finally broken though the brick wall I ran into, in my art last year. I believe finally I have, with this
NEW picture! Not only did I manage to fix some errors in the foundation after I drew it, but the shading has been turning out better too. Notice on the horses' muzzle, how the top to the center shading just gradually fades, and the line that 'draws' the horse' muzzle isn't sharp, but soft,
I'm going to try an experiment in a few days. I'm going to try to duplicate the head of a photograph of a horse, as well as try to duplicate
Allen Brewer, Jr.'s horse art. I have two sketches he did that is beautiful, and easy to enlarge. If I truely have broken though this brick wall, I should be able to do this.
So what's next? If I'm successful, then ANYTHING is within reach! I've already started work on foxes, but they're not great. As for imagination - sigh - that's another long way off it seems, although I'm not not writing it off /yet/. We'll have to see. I'm planning on however, to do portraits of friends to get the practice I need. Once I post them, I'll alert it here, and on my FB page.
