And so it continues

Jul 31, 2010 22:04

The last few months has had a profound effect on me. I'm sure it has others, but this is me.

Last night, in a fit of insomnia, I came up with some interesting ideas, and revolations. I have seen now, what 2010 has been. It's been a key year for me as well. Like several others where I was dragged though the shit (not mud, it was worse), a key year has made me go onto a far different path, but a good one.

I've been sort of concerned of the future. My diabetics blind-sided me and with what GAfennic  and Srain  has shown me, illiness or something equally life changing may wreck my life, stop me from enjoying it, and ultimnately  waste what ever I have left, as I have done for 20 years. I don't wan't to be 100 and look back on my life and wish I had done something different, and not waste my life.  Like I wrote in ' And so it begins' I've started planning on the future. As some long-term readers may remember I said before, I wanted to go back into my early loves;  basic science, learning of new things, building, astronomy, entomology, hiking, etc. Hence I give you my plan for 2011

Entomology: I've started back into entomology already. I've always been facinated with insects, but especially with water insects. Since you could never really see them well. I'm going to finally forfill a dream I've had since I was young; A dedicated aquarium to study water insects. I'm going to get a super-cheap 20-40g tank, basic filter, and stuff, and set it up before April. Once the insects emerge I'll populate my tank, and start watching them.

Astronomy: After I looked at my 13" and saw it had developed silver rot, this was a sign. I could never really use that thing well. 13" made it nearly 2 meters tall, and at 150kg it was a monster to move at all. Yes, I've laminated how I would love my own robotic telescope I can operate via the computer but that's years in the future. Right now I have more important things to put my money in for now. So for now, I'm going to go back into variable star astronomy I was in in the 80s. I'm also going to add minor planet, and even supernovae observation. What that involves is simple. I look at a galaxy and see if there's any changes. 4" telescope can't do as much as that 13" could, but supernovae can be as bright as the entire galaxy, and even IF all I see is a gray smudge normally, a SN would stick out like a sore thumb. What I'm looking for, in all of this, is making real science, collecting data, submitting data to the professionals and such. I use to just look around at objects, and draw then, so I was nothing more than a 'picker' I wasn't doing science. Now I can actually do that I did that with my sunspot research that won me the blue ribbon in the local and state science fairs, before I graduated. I've even considered getting back into my sun-spot research as well, but boy the sun has been quiet the last few years.

Hiking: This is more of a 'catch all' physical actives category. Around the 2nd of Sept Roustabout is coming up and we both like to hike. Hence I'm going to take him to one of the state parks - Blue Licks is beautiful, or maybe something a bit closer like Natural Bridge state park. We'll have to see. I also may take him to the family farm as well. But in 2011, I'm going to start doing physical stuff I loved to do as a child. I was (cough - mutter) an urban explorer (ahem shhhs) but also I was a hiker, and a biker. Although being an urban AND rural explorer won't work anymore since I'm an old fart, I still love to hike in the woods, bike around town. Why? Ultimately I'm so dammed curious, I want to know what I can't see! I want next year to boat out to one of the islands on the Ohio and hike around them. I want also to hike at the family farm, and bike around my new home town.

Now for the rest of the year I'm building up for 2011. Although I know I won't get rich, or even financially able to for fill my ultimate dreams (What I've code-named "project pandora"  which is a house, car, dog, horse) for quite awile, 2011 will be the year I start on that road to that dream. I'm very nearly done with my web site. With advertising, some affiliations, and a couple of other internet money making things, I could make a few hundred dollars a year or so on it. (I'm being very conservative, I have no clue how much I could make.)

But with it being a "billboard" I'll advertise what I'm working on to sell, and to push. I've got my notary license early on. I'm starting to finally get those real estate books ready to sell elsewhere (The 2 subscribers I have have helped me set it up far better than it was before.) Now I plan on having 2 more printers before the end of the year. I'm putting all of the subscriptions into buying these new printers - no profit yet.

Before the end of the year, I'll have my real-estate sales persons license. Even if I don't make a sale at least I'll have it ready for 2011. From there, I'm going to put all my money into getting the final education needed for my appraisal license, and getting it. Then I'm going to get my locksmith license as well. I've thought of this all this year, and I can see it would be a good idea.

Right now I'm in survival mode. I can eat on $100 a month, but I'm putting myself in debt. I'll have to also work next year to get /out of the debt I've put myself in./ Ultimately my goal is to be debt free by Jan 2012. I have about $2,500 in student loans for that ill-fated degree idea. The printers is going to be $400 for 2 new ones. Which of course will be paid for, by the subscriptions. I'm not sure what it'd cost me to get the appraisal, or locksmithing licenses, but I'm estimating probably $10k for both ultimately. I could pay off $12,500 in a year if I worked my ass off, and be like this year; no spending on me at all. That's about $1042 a month. But, I'll know more when it comes time.

One other thing I'm strongly considering when I start making even a bit of profit (Probably next year). I'm going to start investing. We have a local "Edward Jones" and my father has made some good money from them. Not 6 figure, but hell even 3 figure would be a LOT for one as conservative as I. If I can make even like $1000 a year off them, then that's $1,000 more in my name. Which ultimately is going toward the main dream of mine; Project Pandora

Remember, you heard it here first. If everything goes well, 2012 will be my break out year. I just have to stay healthy, safe, and pushing hard.

Now for the 2nd part.

For the first day of my birthday, my true parents gave to me:

Vol 5 of The Complete Chester Gould's Dick Tracy 1938-1939

Boy this has been a PLEASURE to read. The first appearance of Scardoll, Tracy's first weird villain :). And a character that's been driving me nuts. I know I've seen Brighten Spotts but for the life of me, I can't recall what he was. I have this feeling he was a villain but I can't recall, and he was a good guy at the end of this book. - Ug!

This book has re-ignited something I so want to do. I want to write stories in which the criminal gets what he desired. So many criminals are babied around, the police can't really do anything to them and what not. Tracy in the 30s and 40s didn't have the problem. You'd thrill when you see Tracy go after Big-Boy in one of the earliest strips. Big-Boy (patterned after Al Capone) got the living shit beat out of him, by Tracy because he had the balls to kidnap a 6 year old boy. I mean that's what Big-Boy deserved!

I'd love to create a villian that would be caught by the detective, and be beaten like a coward his is. I even have a great idea for one; Hunter, a black panther from my TerraFUR framework, who might get a bit...rough with the criminals on occasion. ;). Yes I'm evil but I don't have any sympathies for shits like this.

Anyway, I received  the original picture of Kantuck, that I got for the RL Kantuck for her birthday. It's great! Here is the link to a web version. (G-rated/SFW) It was done by the great EC Major whom I've considered my art mentor, for his art style is very close to my visions.

Kantuck is a sapient white tail deer doe; a Hindvalian. Gene-engineered by humans in the 2070 (although she was born in the 30th century). I set the rules on how they was created not for anesthetic reasons, but one major reason. I did not want them to be seen as 'humans in fur suits' as I see so many fur art anymore. Her species is gene-engineered on logical reasons. Her legs are closer to the size of a humans, not the splintery ones that real deer have. I cannot see those legs supporting a humanoid sized deer at all. Also her 'utterbreasts' was done that way because in the back story, Hinds was the first uplifted animals to breed true, hence they're a sort of 'prototype' and humans didn't get all the 'bugs' worked out, or didn't want them to be attractive to humans. (up to the reader) at the time. Hence does have utterbreasts, not chest breasts. (I'm thinking the next species - Eohippians - may have utterbreasts too.) Also her paws have 2 thumbs; which was formed by the vestal hooves in behind real deer's hooves. EC saw my vision and was able to form this image from it. It /looks/ very real, as though she could exist. Now comes the hard part. Finding the money to do all of my TerraFUR species by him. I think he's the only one that can do it properly.

So anyway, off for tonite. Got lots to do tomarrow.
