My sister is always complaining that I never have anything nice to say about the guys she dates....not that I will argue that point.

First, there was the short little gnome that she dated, that looked like a shorter, less fat version of our father. He was a nice enough guy, but a lazy bum of a boyfriend.

The second guy was the worst of the lot, and of course the one she dated the longest. He looked like a brachiosaurus (even my sister agreed to this fact...while dating him).He jokingly said he was illiterate, and my sister actually believed him because he was just that stupid. One of my sister's friends found him on Tinder, which I am not familiar with, but apparently he was using the app one month into them becoming an official thing. He took her out to dinner once, but instead of picking her up after he shift ended at 7, he went to the gym first and didn't end up picking her up until almost 10:00 (though that was half her fault for idiotically waiting around for him for hours). She told us after the fact, that sometimes the reason she stayed the night at his place instead of coming home as planned was because he refused to drive her (also half her fault, as she should have just called home for a ride and that would have been that). The fact that my mom and I wasn't much of a shocker, but the fact that my dogs hated him speaks volumes. He was a misogynistic bastard, so we were all glad to see him go.

The guy after him looked like a caveman, and was failing all his university courses.

The next guy had a cleft in his chin big enough that he could probably use it as a satellite dish.

I told my sister that if she wants me to like the boys she dates, she should pick one that who has at least an average IQ and who likes anime. Her reply was that she didn't want to date someone that watched anime.

She just got herself a new boyfriend the other week. I've only met him about 3 times, so still have yet to form much of an opinion of him. He does like to read though, he picks her up from work or sometimes just drops by with a coffee for her, he made her dinner and had flowers delivered for Valentines (even though they had just started seeing each other at that point). He complied to my mom's house rule of having to leave my sister's bedroom door open while the two of them are in there. I found out that we like a lot of the same movies, so hopefully he will get my sister watching some decent flicks...we were both shocked to find out she had never watched Pixar's Up, to which he declared it would be the next movie they watched.

And the icing on top of the cake...he likes anime. He told me last night while he was over that my sister had mentioned to him that I liked anime. So he asks me if I watched Attack on Titan and if I had read it. This led to me inviting him to come see my manga collection, to which he even asked my sister permission to do so. This leads to us having about a 20 minute conversation about anime and manga, discussing which ones we've seen, which ones he has queued up to watch, and me suggesting some series to him. He even saw my new copies of In These Words sitting on my shelf, to which I told him that he probably wouldn't be interest in that series, as it is "literally super gay" and that I had a lot of yaoi manga in my collection. His reaction? "Oh, okay". Eventually my sister came and stole him back, sulking and saying that we had been talking forever.

Secretly, I think she is super happy, as she knows the way to my heart is through anime. And as long as he keeps treating her like he has been treating her, he has my seal of approval.

family, anime, boys, manga
