Hurray For Unexpected Tax Returns!

Jul 11, 2014 22:13

This year I unexpectedly got a nice chunk of change back from my taxes. So, I did what any responsible young lass would do and bought a bunch of manga. Though, I did act somewhat responsible and only spent 2/5 of it, putting the other 3/5 in my savings.

It just so happened that Chapters was having a "Double Your Discount" 2-day online sale a couple days after I found out I would be getting a tax return, so instead of saving %5 for being a Plum Rewards member, I got 10%. I ended up saving $9.04, which is pretty much like getting one book free. I also earned 3SB per $1 spent, so I earned 419SB; 450 will get me a $5 Amazon.ca Gift Card, so that's almost another $5 saved.

Anyway, so on to what I ordered:

All You Need Is Kill: 2-in-1 Edition - Obata Takeshi
Apple and Honey - Hideyoshico
Apple and Honey: His Rose Colored Life - Hideyoshico
Attack on Titan: No Regrets, V01 - Snark Gun
Attack on Titan: No Regrets, V02 - Snark Gun
Blue Morning, V05 - Hidaka Shouko
Deadlock, V01 - Aida Saki
Kiss Blue, V01 - Kinoshita Keiko
Kiss Blue, V02 - Kinoshita Keiko
A New Season Of Young Leaves - Kitahata Akeno
President Momoi-kun - Nishida Higashi
Sweet Admiration (LN) - Kousake Yuuki
Twittering Birds Never Fly, V01 - Yoneda Kou
Wolf Magic - Zippo Natsuki

Seeing as over half of those are Preorders, I haven't received all of my order yet. I did receive Attack on Titan: No Regrets, V01, Kiss Blue, V01, Kiss Blue, V02, President Momoi-kun and Sweet Admiration(LN). For some strange reason, Deadlock, V01 is suppose to ship with the all the preordered manga. The expected delivery date for the rest of my order is November 19th; I'm hoping that they will just send them as they come available, but it's unlikely, seeing as I opted with free shipping.

Sweet Admiration (LN) is the first yaoi light novel that I've bought, and it's definitely not going to be the last.

I am still not sure whether or not I actually like Nishida-sensei's work; but, President Momoi-kun was pretty hilarious. At one point our MC asks why all the office workers aren't wearing jackets and is informed that it would be too much work with all the screentones, so no one wears them. It is definitely more comedy than romance, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

I had already read Kiss Blue and enjoyed it, so I figured I would get it while it was still in stock. It irks me somewhat that the manga are printed in two different sizes, though it is hardly the end of the world.

I haven't read Attack on Titan: No Regrets, V01 yet, nor have I read the first 9 volumes of AOT I have sitting on my shelf. I tend to like watching, then reading...be it a television show, movie or anime, I typically will hold off on consuming the written work until afterwards. Once the anime has concluded, I'll marathon the manga.

So, until the rest of my order arrives, I shall be waiting with baited breath.
