Hi all,
My surgery Monday went very well. I really didn't want to be there in the morning - mostly nerves and lack of sleep I think. However I didn't have a choice. The nurse spent like two minutes searching for my vein and couldn't find it. Damn that hurt! Finally she turned it over to the anesteologist who's name I don't remember but started in Flower. Wish I could remember it. Anyway he put it in my hand right away, no problem. He was from Africa, had a cool accent, and lots of gray nose hair.
Soon I was waking up in excrusiating pain. Worse than it had felt to date. Took about an hour for any pain meds to kick in. On the plus side they gave me a cookie and plenty of shower bags! Dr. Matthews came by and showed me my new x-rays (they x-rayed me in my sleep). Turns out they couldn't just use the 3-4 screws as he had anticipated. Instead I got seven ahahah (sesame street Count like laugh), seven screws. They sent me home after all that excitement.
I am now bruised and swollen and sore but in general it feels much more secure than it has.
