Teaching and Fighting - or was that Fighting and Teaching....
I am LOVING working on this show at Newton North High School. The kids are really enjoying learning and are very enthusiastic. I have recieved rave reviews from all upper boss like people on my preformance. I have time to properly teach fundamentals before they focus on learning choreo. YAY!!
Part of working on the show is that every cast member has some form of fight. That is like 30 cast members that need to learn fight basics. They also have scene practices that pull them from fight rehersals. I wanted to make sure everyone got all the important information that was being taught, so I had the idea to write up some hand-outs on basic stage fighting.
So far, I have written about the most important part of combat SAFETY - and the second most important part - STANCE! Thses are complete with my bad MS Word illustrations. Besides the lack of artistic talent in word (or outside of word really) I am very happy with how this is coming out. I think it will be very helpful to the kids, and a good reference they can take with them for the future. I wish I had this when I was learning combat!
