my second day was equally as exciting, but i can tell school wont be that bad because each of my professors is completely abnormal in their own way. from cartoon character voices to ridiculous accents, each class will be fun in its own way...
philosophy:problems in ethics - my professor is the same as in my other philosophy class, and the people in it seem no better or worse, so i dont have much commentary...
PDC - easily my hardest class. our very first assignment was to make name tags so we can get to know everyone better, although its pretty hard to learn about 45 peopls names on the first day, since the class is only 50 minutes long. oh well. our next activity was getting a partner with the same major as us, and then asking them questions like "where were you born?", "whats your favorite food?", "how did you feel on the first day of kindergarten?", and plenty more brain busters. i swear im not making those up. my partner didnt seem to enjoy talking very much, but oh well. our first homework assignment was nearly impossible. after nap time and snacks, we were told we had to email our instructor so that she could learn 1) that we know how to use email, and 2) that we have an email address. luckily for us, she gave us her email address first, so it wasnt that hard...
biology - my professor is awesome. he looks like a more human version of gollum (from lotr) with the wispy hair and bald head. anyways, he came into the classroom sounding exactly line ben stein, and although the volume of his voice never changed once throughout the class, i can tell he is going to be really funny. if the comedy channel ever comes up with "Late Night Stand Up: Biology Teachers", im sure he would be a recurring phenomenon. he would say things like "so i was at this renaissance fair two weeks ago and i saw a falcon sitting on a tree about 10 feet away, so i said to this guy 'hey, thats falco peregrinus', and he (the bird) turned his head and looked at me like he knew his own name". this would be followed by a relatively loud laugh that sounds something like "uhh-hee-hee-humm" accompanied by an intense shaking of the upper body that caused his shoulders to meet his ears at least 3 times. he also said that botanists recently changed the scientific name of some sort of tree, and he found that to be equally hilarious, so he let out quite a chuckle. about halfway through the class and about 20 laughs later, i, along with several other classmates, were laughing at every one of this guys laughs. i heard one guy somewhere behind me say, between laughs, "this guy is awesome" about 4 times. so that is always a plus to have a funny teacher, even if they arent really funny.
anyways, i updated from the library here and i cant wait to go home and eat some pizza. yum.
p.s. - kaylyn yamada is the single coolest person in the world. and i love her.
a lot.
