I spent my valentines day enjoying a "Sex Tour" with my girlfriend and my MOTHER at the S.F. Zoo. I got to ride a train with 50 other open minded people from all around the state, even country, and listen to some old hippie go on about sexuality in the animal kingdom. The only thing that was common among us was a love of life, animals, information, sexuality, and a good time. How fucking cool is that? Can you think of a better way to spend valentine’s days?
Yes, you can. You spent your holiday (this stupid, useless, halmark POS holiday) fighting for your rights in a cultureless backwater like Arkansas.
We live in the same fucking country, and in totally different worlds. I cower from my comfortable promised land of California preaching to the choir about the wrongs of the world, and you are out on the front line confronting these wrongs in force. I protest cars in San Francisco, you protest basic freedoms in the final frontier.
All I can do, right now, is wish you luck from a universe away and share with you a slice of my world.
Though you didn’t even know it, you shared a slice of yours with me.

Silly, but I was extrapolating the fate of humanity based on my simple little project, lamenting how the inability for “fucking hippies to get our act together can only assure doom for our causes.” Now I am way happier!
Anyway, our melting pot is still a’boil with controversy, especially as more and more Latinos enter the voting ranks. Personally, I don’t care, but some feel Mexico is going to steal us back. Concerning the thought of succeeding from the US and joining another country, I think I’d much rather join Mexico over Canada anyway, the food is way better.
I have other fiends in the south fighting for the same cause and I know what an uphill battle it can be. (Wow, check out the news, Massachusetts said, “Fuck Civil Onions, give us marriage!” WTG!) All I can say is the South has a death grip on their “old ways” and, frankly, I kinda wished we had let them go when they wanted to.
What is disheartening about this latest wave of southern mania is that the religious zealotry is preaching as if the end of the world is near and that judgment day is around the corner. So screw conservation and humanity, they’re already saved, and come Rapture (which will be, oh, next Tuesday,) we’ll all burn. Makes it especially hard to get them to open their eyes to the “long term.” Makes them easily persuaded in to choosing the “Moral backroad highroad” over the “Ethical freeway” with the rest of us. Why must their morality apply to everyone yet not benefit everyone?
The more I hear, the more it hurts my head.
