Line Dancing Gorillas
Move forward, backwards, side to side,
there’s no one else on the dance floor,
and the music echoes
over the wooden floor,
the lights reflect off faces
too jaded to dance just yet
and her only partner is
a gorilla won in the raffle.
Though, when the song is right,
the girls will dance together
and the chairs will rock
with movements of people
too sober to rise to the floor,
there can be rhythm and precision
in the routines of the line dancers
and maybe a little bit of life.
