I broke down and brought most of the houseplants in yesterday: the Boston ferns, the palms, one banana plant, the cactus, the spider plant, and the lemon and lime trees. The ginormous banana and the angel's trumpets and the pineapple are going to be replaced next year. Or not. I'm tired of climbing over and around them all winter. I may come to regret this decision. I've had them for several years now but they're messy and by spring they look like they've been imprisoned in some horticultural hell, emerging into the sun emaciated and ill. So I'm going to allow Mother Nature to put us all out of our misery.

Damn. Now I'm anthropomorphizing my plants. They may get rescued after all.

Had the 'rents over for dinner last night, my belated birthday party. Some bizarrely unfortunate combination of diet Pepsi, beer, lasagna, garlic bread, ice cream, and brownies led to severe gastronomic out-gassing and I was miserable for the rest of the night. *sigh* Chessie, who got into the Milky Ways yesterday, lay next to me in bed, tummy gurgling like a washing machine, so we were a fine pair. Fortunately, once I fell asleep, I slept well.

Californication and Dexter were and are LOVE! Lou and Miguel respectively are creeping me out.

My day doesn't start until 11 today. I had my choice of two rooms and, since they were both crappy, I figured I might as well pick the shortest one, sleep myself out, and get done early enough to enjoy myself. Mom gave me a check for a present so I think I'll head over and buy myself a new Trollbead. #2 and #3 sons bought me one yesterday and it's perfect. I sent my bracelet with them so they could pick something that I didn't already have and a color that coordinates: mostly the beads I have are greens, blues, and teals. I have a friend who has a separate jewelry box for all her beads and she changes them out seasonally. Something to shoot for. ;)

Also, may I direct you to iamsab's latest, HUGE EGO SORRY, which is House/Wilson, perfectly in character and a marvelous read.

anjoufic is posting a new post-IWTB fic, Beating the Darkness Back. Two parts out of seven are posted and, as always, Mulder and Scully are perfectly characterized and Anjou's writing is a joy to read.

Also, you need to read truthontheroad's journal. It's Mulder and Scully posting separately post-The Truth. It's eerie replying to their posts as they are wonderfully in character and I feel as though I'm talking with them. I keep thinking that they're really on the other end of LJ, posting as they run from the MIB, and doing everyday things like grocery shopping and going to Target to stock up on underwear and socks and such. And yet there is much angst and introspection on both parts along with love and sex. It's addictive reading.

And if LJ would solve its server problems, you could actually, you know, reply to these wonderful things!
