"Supreme Court Tackles Ten Commandments. Justices to take on case of displaying religious monuments on public property."

Whats the big deal with having the Ten Commandments displayed? Particularly at a courthouse. The laws of America, our very constitution and the source code for our laws, was written directly from the Christian Bible, specifically the Ten Commandments. HUMBUG to those of the outspoken minority who are so narrow minded as to attempt to make the Ten Commandments appear as wrong and inappropriate.

Regardless of what ones personals religious beliefs are, the Ten Commandments represent a core set of values for all persons, of all nationalities or dogma. Or…perhaps not?

The process of worshipping one God is rather archaic, right? We don’t need God when we have the media, money grubbing evangelists, and Microsoft.

The one about graven images is out of date to. Our world centers around dollars signs, expensive suits, scantly clad women, and fancy cars. If God isn’t in these things then whats the use?

With the Lord’s Name becoming a common place axiom for everything from getting a new house designed on T.V. to an expression of anger, relief, greeting or just to spout noise, that commandment doesn’t need to be around either.

Oh, here’s a good one. Why would the High Court, judges, lawyers, executives and Jane and John Doe want to give up their Sunday (or any other day which used to be held Holy as a Sabbath day) golf games, sporting events and party days just to have a day of rest in remembrance of the creator and helping others. The very thought of having a Sabbath Day was long ago forgotten.

What with the shortage of both moms and dads in the American household, and in those that do have both the parents concentrate on their careers instead of their children, the need for kids to honor their parents is gone. In our modern society there are many programs, after school activities and gangs which can mold our children, there is no need for these kids to form any kind of sense of responsibility to the ones that brought them into the world.

Well, maybe the idea of not murdering folks is still valid. But that’s only one in ten. Not enough.

Then there’s this whole idea that being faithful to your spouse is important. How absurd. If your neighbor’s wife wasn’t fair game for your personal pleasure she wouldn’t look so good would she? (Or him for that matter.) What would our lawmakers do with their mistress’ and secret lovers if this commandment was actually valid.

Stealing, lying and taking that which belongs to others is a way a life. Especially in politics and big business, this is the bread and butter of happiness.

I guess after breaking the Ten Commandments down and comparing them to our high tech and enlightened society they really are a stain on the land and should be removed. It’s obvious we no longer have a need for such guidelines. We have advanced so far and become such a civilized people we have circumvented the need to be reminded of basic morals and values. We have no need of God.

…and if you believe that…then HUMBUG to you!
