This week's
fannish5 brought to you by yours truly! Which five canons would you not want to live in, and why?
In no particular order:
- DC Comics: I love my superheroes, don't get me wrong, but who in their right mind would want to live in a universe in which the Joker and Lex Luthor are real people, running around blowing things up and performing crazy experiments and terrorizing our cities? And let's be honest: who actually wants Superman and Batman to be the saviours of us all? Not me, no thanks.
- Buffyverse: I have absolutely no interest in living in a 'verse in which vampires are real. I don't care how attractive Angel and Spike make it look: I'm nobody's dinner.
- Merlin: It's 1984 with anachronistic tomatoes. I don't care how pretty everyone is--that world is a mess. And it's just frickin depressing to know that Arthur's reign was doomed from the beginning.
- Supernatural: Dude, I'm not white or a man. I'm cannon-fodder canon-fodder. Also, I am soooo over the whole end-times, angel vs demons, apocalypse thing. I was raised evangelical, okay?
- The Magnificent Seven: Mostly, I have no interest in living in the past; it's why I don't get Lost in Austen or the desire to live in Regency times. The world has made progress since the 1800s and I'm grateful for the rights I have now. Sure, I wouldn't mind a trip in a time-machine or a holosuite programme, but who the hell wants to live in an era where you're treated as less than a human being, simply for not being a white, wealthy, anglo male?
Huh. That turned a bit more ranty than I'd intended it to. Sorry.
ETA: Kita has new photoshoot pic of
Julie Benz and David Boreanaz! God, I loved them together. DARLA.
