Ten Things I've Done that Others Might Not Have

Ganked from superplin and thefakeheadline: "Ten Things I've Done that Others Might Not Have."

1) Shaken hands with then-Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, who asked me, "What's your name?" To which I replied like the uninformed child I was, "[Name]. What's yours?"

2) Laughed out loud when told a classmate's father had passed away. (Nervous reaction.)

3) Climbed up one time, unsupervised, in the dark, onto the catwalk above my school's auditorium. Had to get on my hands and knees and slowly back up to the ladder again, sweaty and queasy. I hate open grillwork on stairs and landings.

4) Tried to beat up a man when he pretended to put my little sister in a garbage can. The guy was only teasing, but I was eight and took the whole incident very seriously.

5) Forgot how to ride a bike.

6) Sang the American national anthem with my choir at a major league baseball game in Chicago. (Sadly I can't remember whether it was a Cubs or a White Sox game, or who won.)

7) Had nightmares after seeing the Phantom of the Opera without his mask. I refused to look through the opera glasses after that, even though we were in the nosebleed seats.

8) While hot-tubbing, put on an extra layer of clothing while 6 of the other 7 women went topless.

9) Spent 12 days in my pjs, never going outside or even opening the curtains, living on pizza and canned soup, showering only when too tired to work, in my last semester of university.

10) Thought email and the internet would be the downfall of civilisation. (Obviously I was much stupider as a child.)
