where did the tradition of folding or clasping ones hands togerther while praying come from?

If I am not mistaken, it originates as follows:
Way before the bible, and after, and all that good stuff, the concept of clasping one's hands was used to beg for mercy. Prisoners, with their hands tied, really couldn't do much else. So that's where clasping hands came from.
It came to be used in prayer and church mostly because of the Old Testament, the vengeful, wrathful God, who rained fire and brimstone and all that happiness. People begged for forgiveness for their sins, and for blessings, and they clasped their hands. It makes sense, I guess. Now the idea of putting your hands together, but not clasping them, you know, leaving them straight, I believe can be blamed on the Protestants and Martin Luther, who not only did not see the need to beg for mercy (instead asking for it, a little friendlier approach) used the hands in general for connective purposes. It was a symbol of togetherness, of mutual peace, blah blah blah. I could be wrong on that last part, I'm not really sure where that came from, but that's my gut instinct.

I've got another question for you. I'm just going to ask because I am cool. Would you cry if I died?

Well, I guess it depends on how. If you were:
Murdered: Yeah
Car Accident: Yeah
Suicide: Yeah
Carbon Monoxide: I suppose so, but come on now.
Hit by a drunk driver: Yes, but only for a little. Then I'd go out and kill the bastard who did it.
Alcohol Poisoning/Drug Overdose: I would have a bit more faith in you than this, but probably anyway.
Struck by lightning/falling tree/other act of God: Yeah, accompanied by two middle fingers up to the heavens.
Other: Yeah

Wow, I should have just said, "of course". Cheer up, kid, you're way too young to be asking this kkind of question. Wiat till you're my age, heheh. Well, back to work for me.

Thanks for the amusement. At least I know someone has my back if I am killed by something other than my own doing, LOL. Just a question that popped into my head. With my big trip coming up I always freak a little about flying. Haha, I'm a dork what can I say. :)

1. I don't know. Most people think of something they wished they did, an activity as a child. But the major advantage of having parents who didn't want you around was that I got to do lots and lots of activities. So, in lieu of that, I would have stood up to Ted Willems in 7th grade. I think allowing myself to be labeled as a dork them defined most of the rest of my junior high and high school years. Not that I don't love being a dork, but it would have been neat to try being cool ( ... )
