A poem for Valentine's Day.

Soft lips, sweet and gentle
coaxing, soothing,
asking, telling
breathing
Whispering words
pleas, commands,
cries, gasps
escalating
Hands moving
sliding, grasping
thrusting
Hearts thundering
thumping, syncronizing
connecting
entwining
Releasing.

I have nothing.

No heart so full I feel like a clumsy-fingered child wrapping a stuffed toy, desperately trying to contain what is destined to burst forth.

No completed soul.  It doesn’t matter that I didn’t feel incomplete before; I now know I was.
