Oh yes, that's what I call a season premiere! Kudos to Kripke and co. for a great job.

What follows are thoughts and speculations based on the season premiere. I am spoilerfree for the rest of the season, and if you comment, please try to make sure I stay that way. Much appreciated. :)

Anyway, in random order:

I'd like to point out that Satan is also an angel of God (according to the current mythos - let's not go to how many versions of it exist). A fallen one, of course, but one who lies to get what he wants. And he got many other angels with him when he fell.

That "God job"? Smells like sulphur to me...

Yes, there's that element too. Which makes it all the more intriguing! Although SPN will happily mix 'n match available lore and myths to create its own version, so there's no telling, really, where this is going.

I do like how we went three seasons of awful things happening without (nearly, if you squint there's probably an instance or two could point at) seeing a sign that "good" also exists, and now we suddenly have a job from God on our hands?

I don't think it's sulfur, but it sure smells fishy...!

*waits impatiently for next week's episode*

Deeper shadows, brighter light, deep darks and sharp colors.

Yes! That! I was trying to put my finger on what exactly it was that I was seeing, and how to describe it, but yes, that's it! And I agree, it's awesome!

LOL, I wasn't sure (still am not entirely convinced, really) that it is the same girl/actress in the room and the diner. If it is, it's definitely confusing.

My theory (assuming they are the same) would be that Ruby specifically picked that girl to possess because Sam has already interacted with her (or maybe just to rub it in, Ruby is a demon, after all...), and that Kristy (I thought it was Chrissy, but SPN dialog is sometimes hard to follow for me) in the hotel room was as unknowing as she appeared.

And yes, Sam is showing some rather disturbing traits. Although, maybe Ruby is hopping from body to body so as not to damage any one in particular beyond recovery? If she has to talk to Sam, that'd be kinda hard to do as a cloud of black smoke, right? :)
