Disclaimer: Little Miss Sunshine and it's characters do not belong to me.
Notes: So I didn't plan on writing a sequel to "Painful Vow". Nor did I intend this to be so freaking long. But I like it. It's a lot more light-hearted than the first part. I think you guys will like it. :) Oh, and can someone please take this pairing away from me? I'm having too much naughty fun with it.

Dwayne had tried. He thought that if he took another vow of silence he could beat this thing. Whatever this “thing” was, anyway. He couldn't even think it in his head. He didn't want to. It was too weird.

But all his trying wasn't working. He couldn't talk, and all he thought about was his uncle. All he saw was his uncle. All he could imagine was his uncle. And it didn't help that he ended up being with him almost every minute of the damn day, either.

First it had been the suicide watch. Then once that was over, Sheryl thought it would be good for them to go out and do things together. Mostly errands, for her. She said since Frank didn't have a job yet and Dwayne was out of school for the summer, it would be good for the both of them. He felt like a slave.

Although he didn't complain too much. Well, that could have been the vow of silence. But he didn't complain, because he liked being around his uncle. Usually.

He only hated it when he started to notice how nice he looked with his beard. He hated it when his heart skipped a beat when he saw his uncle smile. A big, bright smile that lit him up from the inside.

He had a crush. On his uncle.

And he had told him about it. Well, written him a note anyway. Frank hadn't even responded, just basically said it was a good idea to wait out the crush, and started ignoring him. Dwayne had cried for about two days, and then decided he was sick of crying. So he didn't even make noise, much less talk. He buried himself in new books, new ideas. He started reading Proust. But then he imagined Frank, teaching Proust. He imagined himself a student in his uncle's class... Which led to some inappropriate thoughts that made him walk the ten blocks to the library to get the damn Proust book out of his sight right away.

Sheryl still pushed them together, but since neither of them had a good excuse that they could actually use, they went off together when she asked.

Sitting in the passenger's seat of the VW, Dwayne leaned against the dirty window, watching the road pass underneath the side of the car. His eyes started to cross and he started to feel a little sick. But he didn't mind. Anything, even nausea, was welcome. As long as it kept his mind off of how his uncle looked in blue jeans, driving the bus next to him.

They were on their way to the store to pick up some milk. Another great adventure initiated by Sheryl.

Frank didn't say a word, either. He might have taken his own vow of silence, for as much as he talked these days. The only noise in the van was the low hum of the radio, playing something he didn't recognize, and the occasional slight beep of the horn they still hadn't gotten fixed.

Suddenly, Frank swore and Dwayne felt the van swerve. Dwayne sat up, feeling worried and looked around to make sure there weren't any cars next to them.

The bus stalled and slowly went forward until it went to a complete stop. Frank slammed his hand against the steering wheel and cursed again. He looked over at Dwayne and rolled his eyes.

“I need to call someone.” He said in a monotone. Not talking for hours can really mess up your voice, Dwayne knew.

Later, after calling Sheryl, who called Richard, who said to call AAA, who told them they'd be there in an hour or two, Dwayne and Frank sat silently on the side of the road. Dwayne thought the road they had stopped on looked a lot like the one where they had let him out to scream on the road trip. He looked up, opened his mouth to tell Frank, and then remembered his vow. He had been making that mistake a lot lately.

After about ten minutes, Frank sighed and looked over at Dwayne.

“Do you have your pad?” He asked.

Dwayne looked over and shook his head slowly, gesturing that he had forgotten it.

Frank nodded. “Well, good. Maybe I just need to say this without being... interrupted.” He said slowly.

He ran a hand through his hair and Dwayne tried to ignore how hot he looked when he did that.

“Look, we have to...talk about this at some point. You know, your feelings aren't so unnatural. Sometimes you can get a crush on a relative. Like a cousin. Or a...uncle. Or something. These things happen. I mean, believe me.” Frank laughed, staring down between his legs at the dirt on the ground. “I'm not perfect, and I've had some thoughts... Before... About people. So I don't want you to feel so bad. I mean, you can talk. Please talk. Even if the crush hasn't gone away.”

Frank's eyes burned into Dwayne's, and he thought he saw them tear up. Dwayne swallowed hard, turning back to look out into the ditch next to the road. He reached down and plucked a piece of grass out of the ground, tearing it into thin slices before he dropped them onto the sand.

He looked back up, and saw the same looked in his uncle's eyes. He didn't want to speak. He couldn't. Once he did, that would be like admitting that this “thing” wasn't going to go away anytime soon. Maybe if he waited a week, faked it, and then started talking again, he could deny his feelings. But if he spoke, right then, that was it. And it scared the shit out of him.

Frank turned away, and Dwayne didn't need to decide, because he knew Frank had taken that chance away. One time only, and it was gone. But then he heard his uncle sigh, and he turned to him again.

“Okay, look. I've thought about you, too. Alright? Does that help? We're both total loser freaks. And I'm not just saying it to make you feel better.” Frank paused, holding his hands in the air. “Well, yeah, I am. Because if I didn't need to say it, I wouldn't. But it's the truth. But you know, nothing can come of it. We might think these thoughts, and feel these...feelings, but you can't give in. Believe me, I know about resisting urges, so-”

Dwayne had gotten used to Frank's ramblings since he moved in with the family. But he hadn't heard Frank ramble since he had written that note about having a crush on him. Sometimes he felt his brain shut off and he would completely tune out his uncle until he thought he had finished. He figured sometimes Frank just liked talking, even if no one was listening. But not this time. He picked up on some choice phrases. Like 'I've thought about you too' and 'feelings'. So that's what made him decide to take a chance, give in, and shut his uncle up with a kiss.

He thought he felt some words run loose in his mouth, but Frank stopped talking once he felt Dwayne's lips pressed up against his. Dwayne felt his heart race, and his mind clouded over. He couldn't move, so he just smashed his lips to his uncle's as hard as he could, and held Frank's head in his hands.

He felt Frank's hand on his cheek, and Dwayne relaxed a bit then. He pulled away slightly, enough to allow some air to flow between their mouths. He opened his eyes and saw Frank's staring back at him. They searched each other for signs of apprehension, disgust, or rejection, but all either of them saw was lust.

Just then, Dwayne heard the AAA truck pull up behind the bus. Frank backed up, standing up, his face filled with surprise. He cleared his throat loudly, shaking his head quickly and held out a hand, helping Dwayne to his feet. They stood to the side of the van, out of sight of the newly arrived truck. Frank glanced quickly in the direction of the sound of the slamming car door, and with a look of confusion mixed with love, he quickly placed a hard kiss to his nephew's mouth. He turned to walk around the van.

Dwayne tapped him on the shoulder before he could make it all the way around, and Frank turned.

“I'm glad you decided to speak up.” Dwayne said, not able to hide his growing smile.

Frank rolled his eyes, but smiled back, his face red. He shook his head before stepping around to talk to the AAA guy.
