oh... *sigh* thanks for your help.. i was trying to find the place where i got the info on how to do what i needed to so that i can paste it here and show you. i didn't understand what it was saying. i did everything i read and tried different ways, but i was getting no where. i'm not sure what bit they are??

when i was able to talk to the guy before he put me on hold for eternity, i told him the length of most every song (aside for maybe one or two that were longer than the usual) he said everything should be fine and i would be able to fit all the songs. i mean, regardless of fitting exactly 1000 songs is the least of my worries. i should, at least, be able to fit more that 2 hundred something, :( it's just ridiculous. they should have helped me out (lol) i've never owned one before. shitty.

anyways, for iPods, you go through iTunes. currently, i was only selecting tracks off cd's, importing them into iTunes, then i placed them into my iPod. I haven't bought any songs and added them to my library yet. there was a place, under my iPod section where i changed the files from WAV to MP3- i thought that was it, but apparently it wasn't. my songs are not going into MP3 format, and now i just don't have a clue how to do it so that i can fit songs. i tried calling the store again but no luck.

anyways, sorry i wasn't able to help you out with the questions and you were not able to help me. thank you for trying though.
