Wedding Drama

Finished wedding errands today. Yay! But now, we're not done, but I'll get to that. Had our list we created last night, directions from all the locals, and thought we knew what we'd do for the day. We got up when we woke up, shower, and got ready at our own pace. Thankfully, Patti and I move at about the same pace on vacation. Probably due to all the vacation time I've spent with her throughout my life. That, and she and Mom are so much alike, and well, being that I'm so much like my mom.... "there you go!"

Anyway, we were off! The sun was shining and the snow was melting. We first had to get to the car and avoid slipping on the ice. Having both saved a nearly traumatic slip, we were really off now. Had no problem finding WalMart, Joanne's and the Dollar Store. Did not find exactly what we were looking for on a couple of things, but with the power of creativity between us, we found some perfect solutions (just add hot glue). God, are we Girl Scouts, or what?

Then we decided to take Mom to lunch. Mexican? Chinese? ok, where? oh, 12:00??? Ok, no problem. Off to kill 40 minutes at True Value. One of my favorite stores in this Podunk town. I once again stocked up on my dip and cheese ball mixes, bought a new flavor at a clerks recommendation. Checked out the current promotion on my pots and pans and determined I still don't need anymore. Multiple dollars saved. Saw some patio furniture I love, but not buying that anytime soon. Then we're off to find the Chinese Hole-in-the-Wall that's "just to the left and behind Safeway". hmm... we're in town now. Must have missed it. Yay cell phones. "I'm turning around on Sheldon, oh look, there's Serendipity, where's the Chinese place?... Got it. Be there in 5." Sure enough, there it was, I just had the order of stores wrong for the direction I was going (to which I'm told does not make me wrong).

Then we're off to the mall to return a purse. We came home and made the candle rings for the fish bowls (don't ask, I'm hoping it makes sense after the wedding). Have made our to do lists for various stages, responsibility list, time table list, question list, packing list... I inherited my list making from Patti.

Mom and Dad had a work dinner, so Patti and I went to Johnny Carino's for dinner. Yummy Italian food and awesome canollis for dessert. Home again. Mom doesn't have answers to most questions, so I call Mandi. That was my first mistake. My second was asking questions to better understand. My third (well, not necessarily in this order) was assuming that Mom knew what she was doing. Apparently we aren't supposed to be supplying our own fish bowls, what are the candle rings for, why are we questioning how many tables and ... (get the point, I was in the wrong because I was trying to help and understand).

Anyway, she's driving over from CA tomorrow to get her dress hemmed, veil finished (we're no longer doing a circlet because she's putting flowers in her hair - no idea where that came from), and any number of other things. Now we have a new list of questions and hope that everything will be fine when she sees what we did.

It felt like a relaxing day, but now it feels like it's been a long day, and I have to brace myself for the sister/sister or sister/mom battle(s) tomorrow. Do I dare try to bring up the shoes she's wearing? Will have to measure her temperament tomorrow. Oh, and I "get to" take her to Costco to buy mini bottles of champagne to put a straw in so she can drink champagne from a straw before she walks down the aisle. Woo-hoo!!! Doesn't that sound classy? Does it at least sound "Vegas"?
