After sleeping all the way til 815 or so, I went to Stanley with
spherulitic and
stmonday and once again had foo much rich food. The corned beef hash was delicious though, and the coffee was good and strong. Tim caught up with me there after his run, and we grabbed coffee and then went to the Presbytere. There were two great exhibits, one focusing mostly on Katrina, but also area hurricanes in general and how they shape the city's culture, and another on Mardi Gras, which included some amazing artifacts, like costumes, dance cards from the 1800s and the jewels worn by kings and queens of the different krewes.
Went to lunch at Restaurant August, which had a 20.11 prix fixe menu. I had two amuses (seafood custard served in a hollowed out eggshell and an eggplant spread with roasted rapini), the best butternut squash soup ever, plus a super decadent pork belly main, and a pretty savory cheese-based eclair for dessert. Tim had roasted curried cauliflower, a veggie medley, and a chocolate mouusey thing. Walked back and shopped a bit, then relaxes in the hotel for a bit, reading and packing and writing postcards.
Had dinner at Bayona, consisting of five appetizers split between the two of us. The quail salad with molasses dressing was especially good. Took the petit fours home for dessert and we're eating them in bed right now,
