supermemo-esque for iPod touch / iPhone

Oct 14, 2010 09:29

This may be old news, but I just found it thanks to someone's facebook update mentioning the app:

Karatasi uses the same spaced repetition method of flashcarding that supermemo does. That is, every day, the program decides what cards to quiz you on based on how well you knew them the last time you saw them. I'm pretty sure this is the same way ( Read more... )

karatasi, studying

Looks like I need an "export to Karatasi" option in CrossMemo, eh?

This also tells me not to bother writing my "SuperMemo for iPhone" app, as it's very hard to compete with FREE. :-) (if the app sucks, you'll let me know?)

If I knew the mapping between what's in SuperMemo's database and what Karatasi expects, I could make a SuperMemo-to-Karatasi converter... but I'm too busy. And then I could get an iPhone myself. It's fun to dream. :-)

it works on ipod touch, too , and i know you have one of those :)

it has a supermemo converter, so it's already built if you like the cards the way that you can make them via your awesome supermemo card generator.

but, as you know, i am contrary and must add my definitions, which adds an extra step for me.

If it has a SuperMemo converter, why won't it convert your existing (w/definitions) SuperMemo databases? Oh... it converts them w/o saving your progress, right? Bummer.

there are a couple of changes i'm making to the way i have things organized so i started from scratch.. maybe it does save my progress - i should see if it does. i haven't synced travis since april or may, so i should get on that and then see if the progress would be saved on this new program.

Sigh. I need something like this for my phone, but I really don't want to start over from where my cardbox is today.

it syncs to your computer, so the progress is saved, thankfully.

That's cool. Is there an easy tutorial? Would you be willing to share some of the files so I can get started on my own set? I have gFlash on the iPhone but not much else for studying.

i can send you my sevens, and i'll slowly get around to adding more. but, you'll see from the sevens that it's just a csv file and you could build them for yourself - the first column is for categorizing the cards, then the next six columns can be whatever data you want to put in them.
