I just looked up from my book I was taking copious notes from, my empty "cluck" tea mug beside me on a chocolate brown and duck egg coaster (a flatwarming from one of my oldest friends), my sleeves rolled up to the elbow ( a brown and grey striped jumper) and my glasses pushed back to make sure my hair doesnt annoy my scanning eyes and I caught my reflection in my window.
It just hit me I'm doing exactly what I want to be doing at uni, from when I was a little 'un I wanted to study in university and read books that were important and write down everything I found interesting in them.
My page is full of small spidery handwriting with names, dates and the odd page reference when the paragraph became too dense and I found my concentration wandering away. So and so said this in 1963 which was refuted by such and such in 1972.
My job? To bring this up to date, to find out what whojimacallit said in 2002 and how this changed so and sos important theory. My job is important, my supervisor found there wasnt a lot of change "so I want you to find out if I've missed anything in the last ten years, find out interesting things" I'll write about them in six thousand words and remember what I'm doing and where I am.
