One-Balled Adolph

I have done a Frankenstein mix. All the song titles are YouSendIt links.

The Tracklist
1. A song that wakes you up in the morning. - Madonna - Borderline. Well, I guess we'll just start out with the guilty pleasure music, huh? I picked this because for a while I woke up to an MP3 Alarm Clock on my computer, and I would always cue it to open with this song. Because mornings make me grumpy, and I just can't be grumpy when "Borderline" is playing. Incidentally, this is also my karaoke song of choice.

2. A song you loved in high school. - They Might Be Giants - Ana Ng. In high school I used to watch my stepdad's old tapes of "120 Minutes" (i.e. the evidence that MTV used to be cool) all the time. One of my favorite videos was "Ana Ng." TMBG is definitely one of my big high school bands.

3. A song that mentions a dead celebrity. - Rasputina - Howard Hughes. This is from A Radical Recital, their live album, hence the bit about Hitler's ball at the beginning.

4. A song you'd be embarrassed to listen to with your grandmother. - Mirah - Pollen. At least half a dozen Mirah songs fall under this category, but I chose "Pollen" because I never want to be around when my grandma hears the line, "I've been leaking like a garden hose."

5. A song that MTV will never play in a million, billion years. - The Pussy Posse - Emo Boys. I went to college with these guys, and none of them have the slightest ambition to ever be on MTV. Ever. Also, I don't think they would ever play shrieking girl punk with the line, "Let's give those emo boys something to cry about." Warning: The sound quality on this is not super.

6. A song with a title that ends in y. - Persephone's Bees - Nice Day. This song makes me so happy.

7. A song that makes you crave something. - The Pinkslips - Nine to Five Nights. This makes me want a cigarette. And a beer. And a cute musician to flirt with.

8. A cover song that you think is better than the original. - Neko Case - Train From Kansas City. I don't actually think this is better than the original (it's hard to beat The Shangri-Las at what they do), they're just very different, and I generally prefer listening to this version.

9. The original of #8. - The Shangri-Las - Train From Kansas City.

10. A song that reminds you of a fandom OTP. - The Frames - Fake. This is Sasuke and Naruto in the Valley of the End.

11. You have been caught mouthing the lyrics to this song. - Future Bible Heroes - I'm A Vampire. How can you not want to sing, "I am a bitch goddess from beyond your grave?"

12. A song that will always make you think of a movie. - Aimee Mann - Wise Up. One of the songs from Magnolia. It's kind of hard to see/hear one and not think of the other.

13. A song that should totally have fic written about it. - The Nields - Nebraska. I don't want a songfic for some other fandom using this song. I want a fic about this song. This song raises so many questions - What's up with Kate? Where does she come into this whole thing? Does the narrator find true love at the end, or is this just the start of the next story? I want to know.

14. A song you wish they'd play in elevators. - Hem - Lucky. If you want soothing music, you're not going to do much better than Hem, in my book.

15. You'll stop listening to this song when they pry your MP3 player out of your cold, dead hands. - Talking Heads - This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody). If I had to pick a "favorite song" (which I could never really do), I would flail for a bit and then say this. Because when it comes down to it, I'm a romantic, and this is the best love song ever.
