A The Cheat (my leopard gecko) picspam! Because it has been a long time. As you'll soon see, she's much bigger now than she was
the last time.
Here we observe The Cheat in her natural habitat. She fails to notice our photographer because she has fallen asleep while taking a drink from her water dish.
As near as I can tell, here The Cheat is encouraging us to "talk to the hand." She doesn't get out of her cage much. I haven't had the heart to tell her that no one does that anymore.
I cropped this picture pretty wide so you could tell that The Cheat is, in fact, intently hunting a big patch of nothing right here. I'm sure that, if she were one to speak, she would assure us that she's after something that only her finely developed animal instincts can sense. But, sorry to say, The Cheat's a dirty liar.
I'm not sure exactly what was going on here, other than that it made The Cheat extremely smug. It's possible she just caught a cricket. Or she could be congratulating herself on successfully navigating over that rock (sometimes she slips).
I have heard that some couples register for things like sets of dishes when they get married. The boy and I, however, keep talking about one of those kickass terrarium things with the rock walls. Because we own an animal that desperately wants to climb.
Her physiological inability to climb glass, however, often interferes with this desire. Not that that stops her from trying. Do you see how precarious she is looking there? Yeah, she fell over. This happens a lot. (Sadly, I did not manage to get a picture.)
It is The Cheat's duty to periodically patrol every area of her cage from every possible direction. So it's not sufficient to climb onto the shoe box from the easy access ramp on the other side. She also has to scale up this side. (This was particularly harrowing when she was the size she was in my first picspam.)
I was attempting to get a picture of her patented L-shape, but she moved her head at the last second. Anyway, she recently added "U" to her repertoire, so that brings our list of witnessed letters to C, L, P, S, and U. Words I immediately see here are "pus" and "cusp," neither of which tell me anything. Well, I really hope "pus" isn't supposed to tell me anything.
There is no explanation necessary for this shot. It is just adorable. Look at her little forearm!
