IWPS 2008 Not In Columbus

Mar 04, 2008 23:02

Still on the road, but certainly worth mentioning since it's about my city:

Ed Mabrey, coordinator for IWPS 2008, is moving out of state.  PSI's Executive Council voted to relieve him of hosting responsibilities for IWPS 2008 in October in Columbus, Ohio.  We deemed it not in the interest of the event to have the primary organizer states away.

The EC will vet and determine a new host city for this event within the same time frame.  Stay tuned to the PSI forums for developments.  For the record, my journal is not the PSI forums.

The question you're too polite to ask is, "Hey Scott, why don't you run it?"

The Writers' Block crew was asked by Ed and investigated our ability to do so to support PSI.  We felt it necessary to decline.
Because my crew and I are putting a lot of energy into making an awesome Rust Belt Regional in May, we didn't want to lose focus on that important goal., especially in light of last year's problematic version of the event.
So sorry, no drama, folks.  Just sound business decisions.  I'd love to host an IWPS or a WOWPS here in Columbus, and you'd love the event my crew and I would put together.
But we don't do it unless we can do it right.  It's part of the reason why we were courted to take on responsibility for this event, and it's why we declined at this time.
