I featured with Steve Abbott.  I performed:

This is the first time I've ever been stopped in the middle of a feature so that I could sign a book for a kid who needed to go home because it was past his bedtime.  He must have been about eight years ( Read more... )

Good for you, dude.
WAY too many teachers and parents get caught up in the details...and pester the creativity right out of the kid.
(note - that apparently didn't happen to 'Yote...reading his handwriting takes psychic abilities...which apparently I have). :D

Tell me about it. Typing was like that for me. My mom tried to get me to type early on correctly, but I couldn't figure it out. Of course, I never learned to do it right, so I compensated by typing wrong very fast. I type about 80 words a minute with four fingers now.

Oh yeah!! That comment will be treasured, I'm sure! You just keep making me like you, dammit.

Signed,
The Teacher

You hate teachers. I still don't care.

I don't hate teachers! I hate stuff that some teachers do!
But if you were my teacher? Le sigh...

Also: This totally reminds me of my most hands-on teacher, Ms. Clingo, third grade.

I was always a trouble-maker in class, but I had talent and intelligence, so the teachers tended to punish me while prodding me to do better in a way that wasn't like other kids. They seemed to like me, despite the fact hat I made teaching tough.

Anyhow, in third grade Ms. Clingo (I think she was a first or second year teacher at this point) head me curse in class and she dragged me out of the room and to the bathroom where she proceeded to put me in a headlock and grab a bar of soap, threatening to wash out my mouth.

Teachers used to be hardcore.
