Head's up on a road trip choice

I don't know how many of you Columbus folks are signed up for the road trip to the Green Mill that Dave proposed a couple of weeks ago or if it's still on, but an alternate plan if it is off is this:

Sherman Alexie
Cleveland, OH
November 18 - 2 p.m.
Cleveland Public Library

Let me be clear: Consider the Alexie jaunt only if the Green Mill trip isn't happening. If you are a local poet and the GM trip is still on, you should definitely go to that, and you should plan to perform in either the open mic or the slam. If, however, the GM trip isn't on - ask Dave - this is a very good, early (2:00 pm) and close (2 hours) alternative.

Not saying Alexie's show sucks or anything, but as a poet (especially if you slam) you'll get WAY more out of a show at the Green Mill than you will from Alexie on tour for his most recent book. When Dave and I saw him the other night in Kent he didn't even talk about his books or his poetry. The only time he really said anything about his poetry was when I approached him before the show started and mentioned reading his "Sasquatch" series in one of my 24-hour features (which he seemed genuinely happy about. "Nobody ever talks about that stuff!" if I may quote). The whole lecture was about his life and political views, which, if you are an already well-rounded human being, you already have ample doses of.
