broken...

That's what this family is right now... in the literal sense, not the "broken family", divorce-type thing.

Jen seems to be coming down with bronchitis-type syptoms.  Which sucks 200% more than normal broncitis, since she is 5 months-plus pregnant.  There is nothing that she really can take to get better... so sleep, soup, and hot chocolate is about it.

Tomorrow I go under the knife for a little shoulder work.  About 4 years ago, I dislocated my shoulder.  Then about a year after that, it came out again.  And then about 9 months after that, again... then 6 months, 5 months, etc... so it has popped out 3 times this year.  Now I am getting fixed.  So I'll be out of work for about 2 weeks, and in a sling for about a month.  Then a few months of rehab, then I can go back out and play full-contact football again (which I do oh so often)...

Brendan was sick too... but at least he seems to be getting better.  As normal as he is... but he is kinda goofy, so normal is not a word to describe my son.

Other fun things besides whining about illnesses...

I helped coordinate my first character video shoot the other day.  It was just kinda thrown at me, but it worked out nice.  It was for The Learning Channel's program called Saving Faces.  And that is exactly it it was... a production crew followed a family of a "little 2 year old girl that will need life altering facial surgery".  And that is really the only way to put it.  She was pretty bad...  but this is why I love what I do.  I helped make her normal for 15 minutes... her family forgot, just for a small moment, that she was sick.  They watched as she acted just like any other normal 2 year old would while meeting Mickey and Minnie in the middle of Town Square on Main Street USA.  Shy and tentative at first, then waving, then hugging, then saying good-bye with a small kiss on Mickey's nose.  It might be hard to explain to people who don't work at Disney, but I get to see everyday what "power" that Mickey has on people.  And that is not "buying/ marketing power" that I am talking about.  But "magical healing power".  It is amazing... sad sometimes, rewarding all of the time.

My parents come into town tomorrow.  Which, when awake and able to move, will  mean some good dinners out around town.  One of the places I hope to hit is Raglan Road, the authentic Irish Pub opening at Downtown Disney.  I think it is opening Oct 21st.  Nice...

We should find out next week if Baby Cook #2 is a boy or a girl.  I am hoping for a healthly child... that is all.  But the family consensus seems to be going for a girl, since there are a bunch of boys running around the Cook/ Bresnahan family tree.  Jen needs someone to go shopping and scrapbooking with.
