And then the patronus comes out of my wand and enters my body fending off the infection inside, or whatever the heck it was. "Be gone from my body, evil Kryptonite poison!" That seemed to be my favorite phrase the last three weeks. For those of you who don't know, I had a really wicked cough that was at times accompanied by other symptoms. For the most part though, it was just the cough. It all really started around June 25, when I started work on my Uncle Frank's birthday present. I made an mp3-cd of all 6 Star Wars soundtracks. Unfortunatley, it was finished by the time we celebrated his birthday so I got him a giftcard to Target also. I only got four hours of sleep working on it that night and the next day was Sunday--and I had to got church in the am and work in the pm (great job, genius)--and we were to see my uncle that day.
So we go to Frantone's--I love that place--and I try to sleep in the car, but it proved difficult. Then we did a little shopping at JC Penny outlet for Vegas--which we were headed for the next day--and i got some workout clothes for the future. Then I worked on the truck at the store and got the compliment of being Superman, Spider-Man, and--when boss-lady couldn't think of anybody else, I suggested this one--Batman, all rolled into one. That made me feel good, but here in lay my mistake. I wore a tank top with my work shirt open. No, by the way, nobody shrieked in fear. I think that, along with other factors, didn't help me though.
After another four hours of sleep and working, and finally finishing my uncle's gift, we headed out for Vegas. I was a little overpacked like usual, but that didn't hurt too much. But when I woke up, I could feel I was a little off, so I stocked up on a week's worth of Dayquil and other stuff. Though this seemed like a good precaution, or even a little much, it didn't do squat for me. We get to Vegas, and I notice I'm not feeling right. I'm tired, which should be a given, but my appetite's lacking also. We had McDonald's at the Luxor and then ate at the Palace Station buffet at Victor's request, for dinner. It was okay, but I didn't want to eat there again during the week. After we left though, I was really feeling wore down, so we pretty much headed back to Excalibur, and for me, bed.
Though I took quite a few pictures from the car, the majority of the week, for me, was spent in bed. While my parents were off losing money, and Michele and Victor were having fun, I was sleeping with the TV on. Though there were the highlights during the week. Saw Tournament of Kings show at Excalibur and played a little in the arcade Tuesday night. Uncle Frank was there and I got to give him the gift that I paid the price for with my health... should've started earlier on it. But anyway, saw War of the Worlds Wednesday afternoon. That movie was awesome. It was very Spielberg-like except for the fact that the aliens were evil instead of good. Kind of reminded me of Minority Report in its tone. For that, Spielberg and Cruise need to make one more movie together. I could see this movie being terrifying if I was younger, and I was scared a little myself at times, so a good job was done.
The next day, Thursday, I was running out of time. Still sick as a dog, I strived to make this day more fruitful. Went to see Star Wars, but it wasn't playing that day, so me and my parents saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It was even better the second time. I agree with Erin in that they're a little too pretty in that movie, but it is still a cool movie. The ending still could use a little more to it, but that last scene is great. After the movie, went to Bellagio, found out that there's a "Fontana Bar," and was able to shoot the water sequence out in front of the hotel. Couldn't do it last year due to high winds. That pissed me off so bad, but made it that much better I could do it this time. Haven't seen it myself though. Funny thing though was on the way to Vegas, the first hour of the trip, I entertained myself by viewing a trip Ernesto and I took over a year earlier from Running Springs to Barstow. That was funny. Maybe on my next trip somewhere, I'll see the Bellagio show. Anyway, after that, we went to the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton. I thought it was funny how I took out $200 a week prior for the Vegas trip, mostly for this. It wasn't even to go on the ride--which I didn't do this time b/c of how I felt and b/c nobody was going on it with me--but so I could buy a shirt or sweatshirt or something from the giftshop. I walked out empty-handed b/c all they had was stuff I didn't like. I almost bought an Enterprise tv show key chain but that was too expensive for a key chain. I wanted to spend my money on something big and cool, not small and okay. Well, I still have my keycahins of Kirk's Enterprise and the Enterprise-E from last year, as well as my pin, so I still have something from that. After the ride there though, that pretty much was it for the day.
Friday, we checked out early and took off immediately for home. We did make a stop at the BC Cafe for lunch (or breakfast in my case. pancakes were really good. it was also nice to see my appetite coming back a little.) and then went home after. I spent the next few days working and trying to recover. Tuesday, I even went to the doctor, who didn't even diagnose me with something. At least Ernesto was told he had bronchitis. I didn't know what was wrong with me. Some people entertained some interesting ideas as to what made me sick. All it did was make me cough excessively after lauging really hard. Anyway, the doctor gave me something called Cephalexin, which I had to take every six hours for seven days.
A week later, when I still wasn't better, my mom tried to get a refill perscription, but they couldn't give it to me. Looked like I was headed back to the doctor, but I started to get my appetite back a little. When I finished off the medicine, we had Stoup--a cross of soup and stew--and despite the strange feeling like poison, or a rock, in my stomach, I ate really well. Then as my body had trained itself to do in the last week, I promptly woke up at 6am. I also woke up a little before that a few time b/c I was hot. But at 6, it happened. I'm sorry to tell you this, but it still happened. The sour taste swirled in my mouth, and I slowly, calmly, walked over to that bathroom. I saw down with my head against the toilet, and just tried to breathe regularly. When that didn't help, I kicked the door closed--stricly so other people wouldn't hear me, which I found out later they did--and it hit me. I don't think I have to explain what happened next. The next few hours were a little difficult sleeping wise, especially since I had to hear my mom and sister discussing what happened to me earlier. Finally around 8:30 I got some solid sleep time until like 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Strangely, my appetite was quite good, and I've been getting better ever since. This sickness has still taken its toll, but after that morning, things haven't been as bad. My mom said this is the worst I've ever been ill, but I would dispute that. I'd say this ties with my brother's birthday in 2003--the day we saw Matrix Revolutions and I looked like a walking corpse.
But the important this is, it is almost over. I don't want to say completely b/c I don't want to be that arrogant to think that. As of now, though, this is what I have to look forward to: a possible to trip to Disneyland for Space Mountain's long awaited return. Anything else is really catch up. I still have to see Fantastic 4 and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And then The Island comes out this week. There are others I need to speak with/see seeing as how my illness has put me in exile and I haven't really spoken to anybody (sorry Melissa).
In the midst of all this, I was able to go to Ruby's in Fullerton on Saturday night. I love that place. Next time, I want to get 50/50 shake. The only reason I didn't get it this time b/c my stomach was upset again the day before. "BE GONE FROM MY BODY, EVIL KRYPTONITE POISON!!!" While down there, we went to the Disney Outlet store. Got to see a little bit of Toy Story there. That is still such a funny movie. I also noticed a Sonic across the street. They're always advertising that place on TV, but I've never seen one. Well, now that I have, I have a feeling I'm going to return there with friends in tow. Before the night was over, my dad was cool enough to stop at Barnes and Noble in Rancho and I got a copy of the new Harry Potter book. Of course they had plenty, but I wanted to get it before the price went up. Of course, I started reading it that night, but only the first chapter. The next day, yesterday, I read up to about page 200, which I thought was astounding. I'm now at about 300 or so. I'm gonna try and finish this ASAP so I can get to wondering about Book 7.
And one last thing, went to The Warehouse in La Verne with my parents today. That place is cool. Good sandwiches and pizza. Also reminds me of La Verne's version of the Getaway Cafe. After the movie, we went to see Wedding Crashers. I must say, that movie is AWESOME!!! I couldn't stop laughing almost the whole way through, and surprisingly, I wasn't coughing. And when I wasn't laughing, I was actually interested in the story. It's not the greatest movie ever made, but it did make me feel good and laugh a lot. It's one of those, "I'd see it again..." movies. Vince Vaughn is MUCH better in this than he was in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Good to see him like that again. There's a lot more to like in that movie too, but just go see if yourself. And if you do go, let me know so I can see it again. ;-) ;-) Anyway, that's the end of another excessively long log. Hope you enjoyed it. Adios people.
