This New Year's was the best one I've ever had. I think it's because for the first time I spent it with people of my choice. It's only the second time I spent the new year not at home and the other time was the worst new year's that I've ever had.
I started out at a party at UNO with a bunch of friends from high school. As I went to an all guys school there was a majority of guys and it was good but off-putting at the same time. Most people got drunk, some people played Super Smash Brothers, and some people did both. I just played Super Smash Brothers. It was really fun but not how I envisioned my whole evening. Then most of the people at the party left all at once and there were just 5 of us. That was right about countdown time here in the midwest so we watched that, yelled a lot, and decided that we weren't going to just stay in that dorm/apartment. My friend Christy had invited me to a party at Creighton University so I got 3 of them to come along, one of whom was my best friend Nate. They were drunk so I was the only one able to drive. It's funny because it turns out that you don't even have to driving to be dangerous in a car. On our way Nate called our friend Matt to see why he hadn't come to the first party. That just turned into Nathan yelling a lot because he was trying to get Matt to believe it was actually him on the phone. Yelling is a distraction. Also, when we got close to Creighton, Nate decided he wanted to put my car into neutral while I was still driving it. He put my car in reverse instead and I had to stop in the middle of the street and restart my car in order for it to work again. We get to our destination, don't know anyone there except Christy, and then my compadres did a few things I'm sure they wouldn't have done sober. Shortly thereafter we left because it wasn't very fun and we decided it would be fun to go to Dr. John's, the local porn store. That was just odd with me, three drunk boys, and a girl because we took Christy with us. Dr. John's is really close to UNO so we took one of the two Joels we had with us back to his dorm, played a little more Super Smash Bros, and then left again. We went to IHOP and drove around for a little while by which time it was 5 am. Then we went back to UNO, played another game of Super Smash Bros and tried to crash for a couple of hours which didn't work at all because it started getting light out. About 11am I took Christy back to her friends at Creighton and went home to sleep.
Dick Vermeil retired again and Larry Johnson was a beast again. Go Chiefs. Too bad they missed the playoffs.
