It had been long enough living in Dismas that for Clare, the inability to access her Yoki no longer felt quite so much like an amputation. But she still started at the sound of the door; it was like a phantom limb, even when she had long resigned herself to her lack of power in the place she lived, had begun to enjoy it, even... she still expected to be able to sense people coming, to know without seeing who stood on the other side of that door

She needed no prompting to accept that invitation. The instant it was offered, it was taken, and Riful strode right past Clare into the apartment, looking around, hardly concerned that her back was turned to an enemy, of sorts
