Well, well, well, what was this? A studious little scholar, it seemed, bent over some very strange objects.

Izaya was interested enough to walk over in person and peek over his shoulder, eyebrows raised in curiosity and innocent facade pasted on.

"What's that?"

Johan looked up, slightly startled. It was that one guy, the one who'd been asking about people having trouble with the natives and bargaining to make everything stop . . . the one he'd had vague suspicions about for reasons he couldn't quite pin down. In person he seemed nice enough, at least. Johan sat back to display the objects in front of him. "Some stuff I found in the ruins. I don't think it's anything important, but it's kind of interesting. Even if most of it is completely toasted."

Ah, he had surprised him. At least he hadn't scared him off yet. Izaya didn't have to feign interest as he looked the items over, looking at them intently. A letter to someone, and a container...

"Was there anything in that?" he asked, gesturing at the box. "Were those things inside of it?"

"Yeah," he answered. "Didn't have a very good seal, I guess." He gestured to the pile of papers. "I tried getting those apart, but they started to tear."
